Last night was my company’s holiday party. This was my first soiree since starting at the hotel so I was excited for how it was going to go. Also, David wasn’t able to go since he was working two jobs, so I invited my sister in law Sara who works right down the street! She was more than happy to come.
But, let’s start with the morning. The alarm went off early David came home and I got up to start my day. Oatmeal was a quick put-together of bananas, honey, almonds, raisins and granola. Of course, with a side of vanilla coffee.
Today was another day working at my mom’s office. I helped the accounting department with moving files and creating new ones for 2010/11. Some of it was lifting and bending and moving hundreds of files. It was kind of a workout and it definitely worked up an appetite!
I didn’t have time to make anything at home so I decided on Chipotle. I had to stop at Marshall’s across the street anyways to find a top for the party (which I did! Clearance! Retail price: $58, what I spent: $15!)
For my bowl, I had lettuce, chicken, rice, black beans, stir fry veggies and medium corn salsa. It was spicy but so good and so filling.
Yah, I still like my Diet Cokes every once in a while.
After work I headed straight to Boston to meet Sara at the hotel. Of course, not before getting stuck in some toll traffic on the Pike. I’m actually glad I take 93 now; it’s quicker. But can’t wait to be able to take the T to work!
Our first order of business when we got to the hotel was drinks. I ordered a cabernet, she had a chardonnay.

The Oval room where the dinner and dancing was was decked out in “cabanas” with flowing fabrics and pillows on the floor. Sara and I opted to “When in Rome!” and sat on the pillows while we ate dinner. It was comfortable (even though we weren’t sitting the whole time) and we were both glad that we were wearing pants.
The dinner was buffet style with middle eastern cuisine.
My app plate had salad, pita bread, chicken curry with raisins and almonds, tabbouleh and a roll. The chicken curry was amazing! I had that wrapped in the pita.
My half eaten dinner plate had basmati rice, chicken, sweet vegetables (I don’t remember the sauce, but they were delicious!) and a half a slice of naan.
My dessert was a martini glass filled with some kind of pudding, but not pudding. It stuck to my spoon. Hmm… It had a very spicy taste to it; kind of reminded me of black licorice. But it was topped with pistachios, shredded coconut and almonds so I couldn’t resist. I also had a little pastry and some chocolate covered almonds. And a beer. Sam Adams no less.

Does your company throw fun parties? Whether it’s holiday or mid-year soiree? This was probably one of the best parties I’ve been to at any company that I’ve worked for. Can’t wait for the boat cruise in the summer!
