Hanging with a Hot Chef

Posted Apr 13 2011 12:59pm

There are definitely some perks to working in Kansas so often.

Cleaner air.

Empty highways.

Friendly joggers. (who actually smile and wave at me!)

Family.

Friends.

And last night, I had the pleasure of meeting fellow blogger and Hot Raw Chef , Amber Shea!

Amber and I have been trying to coordinate a meet-up for some time now, so I was excited that we finally worked it into our busy schedules!

We met up at La Bodega , a lovely restaurant featuring drinks and small plates:

We each enjoyed a couple glasses of wine, a small plate (a dip of pureed tomato and goat cheese for me!) and lots of great conversation! Among the topics we discussed were our attempts at P90X (Amber just finished her 90 days!), raw chef and nutrition schools, and the trials and tribulations of blogging. ;)

And, of course, we talked about food!! One of the things I love about Amber is her flexible (almost) Vegan philosophy. While I absolutely admire people who are committed to living a fully vegan or raw food lifestyle, I’ve personally found that a flexible approach toward food and diet works well for me. It’s nice to meet someone who feels the same way!

It’s also nice to meet someone who happens to be an amazing raw chef:

They bring you goodies. :D Amber brought me some samples of her white chocolate fudge bites, and they were delicious!! In fact, I polished off two on my drive home!

P.S. I am always willing to be a taste-tester, Amber!!

Obviously, we had a great time– and I hope there are many more meet-ups in our future. :D

Okay, I’ve gotta run for now, but hopefully I’ll be back soon with a “perfected” recipe for ya. (cross your fingers it doesn’t flop! )

Hope you’re all having a great week so far!!

House-keeping note: If you’ve been looking forward to my daily food journal , I just wanted to let you know that it’s gotten a little too crazy this week for me to keep it up during my business trip! (uploading photos is time-consuming!) I’ve posted a little photo-montage for now, as an abbreviated look at some of my eats from my trip, but I’ll get back to my daily posting-schedule when I get back to LA!
