Half at the Hamptons Training – Week 10 (And a Fun Survey)

Posted Feb 06 2012 10:54am

Whoa, two more weeks until the half! This past week was certainly low in terms of mileage. With my morning shifts and David being sick, I didn’t get outside a whole lot this time around. I forgoed the long run on Saturday since I had a meeting at 12:45 that afternoon. Is it just me, or is it tough, mentally, to get out and do a long run when you have impending appointments? I like to go out with nothing planned so that I can just relax and get in the miles, not worry about getting somewhere at a certain time. So, the 11 miler (and last long run) will be completed tomorrow when I have nothing planned. :-)

Monday: Last morning shift of the week; Sonsie dinner at night.
Tuesday: 3.1 miles @ 28 minutes @ 8:59 pace
Wednesday: Taking care of David
Thursday: Upper Body Workout
Friday: Rest (in more ways then one)
Saturday: 6.2 miles @ 58 minutes @ 9:24 pace
Sunday: Work 7-3, then Super Bowl :-(

Week Mileage: 9.3
Total Mileage: 148.01

The 5k on Tuesday was done late in the afternoon and I think it definitely confirms that I am a morning runner. Not only is my stomach, relatively, empty, but I just like getting it out of the way and then have the day to just relax or run errands.

11 Random Things

I’ve been seeing this survey around the blog-o-sphere and was excited when Lauren tagged me in it today! Now I have something to do here at work since it’s kind of slow. ;-)

1.) I was bald for the first 3 years of my life. There are pictures where people are blinded by my bright noggin.
2.) When I run I can’t for the life of me keep my thumbs down. And they always seem to pop up right at the end of the race. Maybe it’s my way of giving myself a congratulations?
3.) If I’m cold, I love to layer as opposed to putting on one big coat. I think I learned that from living in New England. (Don’t like the weather? Wait 10 minutes.)
4.) When I was in high school, I was picked out of over 100 people to join a talent agency in Worcester.
5.) I could live on pizza alone.
6.) Chord changes give me goosebumps.
7.) Applause makes me cry.
8.) My favorite animals are dolphins.
9.) I had caged pets growing up (hamster, guinea pig, rabbit). When I moved out, my parents got 2 cats.
10.) I was an interior design student my first year of college. My design bug is itching now that my husband and I are building our first house. I have an urge to make poster boards.
11.) I grew up watching Three Stooges and Mel Brook’s movies. I love my sense of humor. :-)

Questions I have to answer

1.) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Ireland! I loved that country.
2.) Beer or Wine? Oooh, that’s a tough one. I like a good craft beer but I have a soft spot for cabernet sauvignon. I think wine has the edge though.
3.) What is your favorite quote? Go confidently in the direction of your dreams; live the life you’ve imagined. – Henry David Thoreau
4.) One thing you always have in your purse? Chapstick
5.) The best concert you’ve been to? 3rd row, Backstreet Boys concert at the Bank of America Pavilion
6.) What would be your last meal? A big thin crust, Hawaiian pizza with extra sauce and extra cheese.
7.) What is the one word that makes you cringe? Nipple
8.) If you could live one day as the opposite sex, what is the first thing you would do? Uhh…pee in the woods. Haha.
9.) Do you believe in soul mates? Not really
10.) Gossip Girl or Glee? Never seen an episode of either. I’ll stick with my sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory.
11.) What would be your ideal job? Traveling around the world and reviewing hotels and restaurants.

The rules are to pass this on to 11 more people and ask them 11 random questions. Buuuut…I’m being lazy. :-P

Feel free to leave a random fact about yourself or answer one of the questions above! :-)
