Guest Post: No One is Better at Being You than You!

Hi Friends!

How are you doing? I’m en route back home to Canada today, and I’ve got one more guest blogger to introduce you to. I met Brittany a few months ago after joining a Facebook group for Canadian students of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the school that I’m studying with to become a Health Coach . We discovered how much we have in common and clicked instantly. Here she is to tell you more about herself, and she’s got some great questions for you to ponder too!

Hello lovelies! It is such a privilege to be writing for Eat Spin Run Repeat. My name is Brittany and I recently met Angela through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She and I are classmates, taking a yearlong program to become Nutritional Health Coaches. It has been such a joy to share our knowledge and passion for living well as we embark on this journey.

I would love to share a little information about myself. I am a Canadian girl, raised on the prairies in the shadow of the Rockies. I am extremely fortunate to be in a free country; raised in a family with genuine faith, encouragement and support. With these three elements guiding me and personal ambition, I obtained a degree in Nursing and have been working as a Registered Nurse in the Obstetrics field for four years. I continue to work as an RN in Calgary, Alberta as I pursue my health coaching education. I love my nursing career and the impact I have through helping women deliver babies, but my true passion is women’s health and nutrition.

In the fall of 2011, I started my own wellness business for women that incorporates a detox/nutrition program. It is low glycemic and helps women lose weight and kick their sugar cravings. I love to empower women to live healthy lives, and help them become the women they were created to be.

The journey to this point in my life has been both amazing and devastating. I would not change any of those curves or those moments, for it has lead me to this point in my life where I am finally taking daily steps to live the dream I so desire; my dream of changing women’s lives through nutrition, encouragement and inspiration. Now I’d like to ask each of you a small question…

Are you living an Embraced Life?

An embraced life is one of forward motion. Moving closer towards your “ideal” life and allowing you to be the women you were created to be. Embraced living is to consistently choose a life of wellbeing. Small tasks each day that will lead to have optimum health and allow you to live a passionate life.

So I encourage you to do something for you today. Take a few moments and rediscover what makes you feel alive. With this knowledge you can be inspired to make healthy choices TODAY that will enable you to get closer to this dream. I fully believe that you cannot truly perform to your best when you are denying your body what it requires from proper nutrition and daily movement.

Write down the moments in your life where you were most joyful. When you felt alive and life couldn’t get better…these are the moments I want you to capture in your mind.

  • In the moments, what were you doing?
  • Where were you?
  • Who were you with?
  • Looking at you, were you your “ideal self”?

Reflect upon these questions in the days to come. As you continually find ways to make wellness a part of your life, remember you are unique and incredible as you are.

Before I leave you, I will lighten this message with a recipe for a favorite green smoothie. I absolutely love smoothies!!! I vary the flavours daily, and love the health benefits and how filling a smoothie can be. It is a great meal for when I work night shifts. I feed my body nutrient-rich food that give me sustainable energy…a must have for when 3:00am rolls around! So may you enjoy it as much as I do!

Green smoothie

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1/4 green apple
  • 1-2 tbsp parsley
  • 2-3 scoops of my favorite low-glycemic vanilla protein (if you would like my personal favorite please contact me!)
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1/4 lemon (with the peel if you have a Vitamix like I do)

Mix all ingredients together in your blender and enjoy! If you want it thicker than please feel free to add more ice.
