Grillin like a Villian

Holla! I bought a Foreman grill on a whim yesterday! I had one of these bad boys back in my college days - I think I actually took ours from home during the summer after freshman year, my first time living in a "real" house on my own. But like so many of my other college things, it got lost along the way. And I didn't really miss it that much, but I'm finding myself in a bit of a cooking rut right now and I thought a convenient appliance would be just the ticket. (Even though I have been thinking about saving my pennies for a nice blender... oh well.)

I promptly went home and grilled myself some chicken strips, which was affirmation for me that I'd made a good purchase! What could be easier? Salt and pepper a couple of chicken tenders, throw 'em on the grill, and continue lounging on my couch while dinner cooks? Yes, please!

Later last night I got the bright idea to make a pressed dessert sammie, so I schmeared some almond butter on a sandwich thin (made by Oroweat in my neck of the woods), sprinkled a few chocolate chips on it, and then added some sliced strawberries. I love that combination! And pressed on the grill - DELICIOUS!


Remember when I did this to my almond butter jar? Well, this a.b. was the remainder of that (I'd salvaged it into a plastic container) and I thought I'd gotten all the little glass pieces out. Key word: thought. Because a few bites in, I got one that was extra crunchy. Except that was no crunchy almond - it was a shard of glass! I removed it from my mouth and continued on but then I got another "extra crunchy" bite - GEEZ! Do I belong in a sideshow or something?

Needless to say, I think I'm gonna toss that container of a.b. and start over with a brand new jar. Maybe smooth this time.
