Great Experience at New Sports Cafe

Posted May 13 2010 8:59am

Many thanks for all the birthday love yesterday! Your comments made me smile :)

Last night I celebrated by going to dinner at the new Tobacco Road Sports Cafe with a few girlfriends. IMG_3524 Chris was out of town, remember?

As soon as we talked in I was in awe of how big it was! IMG_3506 And how many TV’s there were! IMG_3508 There were even lounge chairs for sports watching. IMG_3507 And the best part?

It over looks the Durham Bulls baseball stadium! IMG_3519 So you can enjoy the came while eating dinner or having drinks.

I think this is a great addition to the Durham restaurant scene!

Also, this is not your typical sports bar. The Tobacco Road Cafe offers several healthy options and 75% of the food is made from scratch. An added bonus is that they mainly use fresh, local ingredients! All of their produce is purchased locally. My ears definitely perked up when I our waiter was telling us that.

My lunch yesterday was leftover pasta and sausage, so I opted for a lighter dinner. There were so many delicious options on the menu though so it was difficult to make a decision!

I pondered over the menu while sipping on a local brew. IMG_3504 Mother Earth’s Endless River, which is a wheat beer. YUM!

After much deliberation I finally opted for the cobb salad. IMG_3510 Bacon seemed to be calling my name :)

This salad was outstanding and unbelievable fresh! IMG_3514 Just look at how bright the avocado and tomato were!

It was HUGE so I only finished off about 80% of this and was too full for dessert. Especially since I enjoyed a second beer with dinner. IMG_3515 A Pyramid summer seasonal. Loved this one!

Happy birthday to me. IMG_3518 Thanks for a wonderful evening ladies!

This morning started off wonderfully with a delicious fruit smoothie. IMG_3538 Chris really has a nack for making smoothies. IMG_3540 The New Belgium glass looks pretty in purple, dontcha think? IMG_3537 I was drying my hair while Chris was making so I’m not exactly sure what was in it.

But I am going to guess there was:

  • Frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries)
  • Yogurt (vanilla Chobani)
  • Milk

Pretty simple. I’ll let you know if I missed anything!

Since I am the kind of person that likes to have something to “chew” at breakfast, I also toasted a whole wheat English Muffin. IMG_3551 Half with peanut butter. IMG_3554 And half with homemade almond butter.

I’m pretty sure I could eat bread & nut butter for every meal! But that wouldn’t be very balanced now, would it?

Want to know what the hardest part about leaving for work in the morning is? Aside from leaving my husband of course :)

Leaving this adorable face. IMG_3556 Nylah says “Whereya going mom? Why are you leaving me? Can I come?.
