goodbye summer hello fall

Posted Aug 25 2011 10:03pm

It was so fun reading the random facts shared by everyone on the last post!  We seem to be the queens of scars and birthmarks.  Like Nicole so elegantly stated, though, “unique is beautiful.”  That is so true!

I think it’s fair to say I’m ready for fall.   These hot, humid, sticky days of summer can be replaced by the cooler days of autumn.  If I had control over the weather (i.e. if I were God), we would have Autumn year round!

The trees would constantly be changing color.

The weather would always be crisp and cool and refreshing, begging you to throw your hands up in the air and run in circles (or maybe that’s just me).

Morning runs would not result in me turning into a dripping ball of sweat.

Pumpkin recipes would return to the blog world with a vengeance (not that they every left).

There is, however, one thing that I will miss about summer, and that is peaches and strawberries. This may explain why I have been eating them like they were the elixir of life.  Not a day has gone by this summer when I have not had at least one peach or a bowl of strawberries

Lately, I have been savoring the fresh produce so characteristic of summer.  Fresh sliced fruit.  Crisp salads.  Fresh bread (always an essential).  Until I can no longer find these foods at the grocery store or farmer’s market, I will continue eating them with a vengeance.  Hence my choice of lunch today.

  • Strawberry Balsamic Salad with cucumber and edamame
  • Sprouted Wheat Bagel with sprouts, avocado, tomato paste, oregano
  • Pluots

With that said, I am going to go and eat a peach.  I hope you are enjoying the last of the summer fruit and amping up for the coming of new fall produce!  I guarantee you, I am!

Finish the sentence:  My favorite thing about fall is ______________.

My favorite thing about fall is the crisp mornings, sitting on the porch wrapped in a sweater trying to absorb every ray of sunshine.
