Remember the story about David and Goliath. Let me tell you about a modern-day David. His name is Zack Novak. He is a guard playing forward for the University of Michigan basketball team.
Ron Beard from the Detroit News wrote an article entitled " size disadvantage is not a new feeling for U of M's Zack Novak ". Zack Novak is only is 6 feet and 4 inches tall. He usually is defendant and playing against people 6 inches or more taller than he is. And surprisingly, he is unbelievably successful against the giants in basketball land.
Bob Wojnowski put It This Way, " Zack Novak puts fire in the Wolverines ". According to Bob, "You need all elements to win, and that's why a 6-foot4 junior lefty, who wasn't even sure you get a shot at college basketball can be an impact guy, in his own way. Novak isn't just a throwback, he's a throwdown, willing to do whatever's required. He plays power forward against players half a foot taller, but is a shooter by trade and a leader by necessity."
Can you believe it! Novak leads the team in rebounding. Zack and his team have done remarkably well. The team was predicted to come in last in the Big Ten and now is in the NCAA tournament facing the mighty Duke.
What is the secret of Zack Novak success?
"You just believe in yourself and if you believe in yourself good things will happen".
All of us can defeat our giants, if we believe in ourselves!
