Such a great run yesterday. It was the first time, in a very long time, that I did a long run and felt good about it. I actually have not run this distance (without stopping and walking) in a long, long time. Usually, as I’ve stated here , I like to get my workouts in as soon as I wake up. But, that doesn’t always happen depending on what is going on that day and how I feel. Yesterday morning was a good example… I wanted to sleep in a do something outside during the day to take a break from schoolwork, and my original plan was a 5 mile walk.
So in the morning I whipped up a huge oatmeal protein pancake, topped it with a cold mashed banana, and frozen wild blueberries that thawed out quick from the hot pancake. So good and hit the spot! Three hours later I decided to go for my “walk”. I walked about 50 feet and just started to jog. The weather was perfect- sunny and breezy. 3 miles in and I was barely working up a sweat and breathing easy. I decided at mile 4 that I would extend it to 7 miles if I felt up to it. So awesome. It was a slower run, but it was actually enjoyable. I have not felt that way in a long time (hence, the reason why I haven’t gone for long runs). Usually I’m bored, doing it to burn calories, and just want to get it over with. I just had a different attitude this time, and it really helped.
I don’t plan to do long runs all the time though. I know I’ll hurt my knees if I do too much too fast. Also loving HIIT, plyo, biking, and lifting. Need to switch it up to keep my body guessing!
Anyway, afterwards I treated myself to organic turkey + tomato on an ezekiel wrap. This was my first time trying the wrap, and I really liked it!
Usually I have the bread, so this was a nice change
