Going Outside Your Comfort Zone

Posted Oct 01 2013 10:10pm

I turned 29 this past weekend. I feel like I am still in my late teens/early twenties most days. My mom used to say that you never feel older than 19. I think she was right! I am looking forward to turning 30 though. I feel like that will be the magic age for me when people start taking me seriously, lol. Everytime someone finds out i’m still in my twenties, they chortle and say something like “how cute”. Blech. Come on now!! As I have contemplated aging and getting older, a lot of thoughts have come to mind. One of which is how many things have changed in the last ten years!! I have learned so much and can’t wait to continue learning and trying new things!! Here are some of the new things I am trying in light of the new decade looking in front of me:

1) Making yogurt

This may sound simple, but sometimes I get really intimidated by things like this. I don’t want to fail. So, I am following this post on how to make my own yogurt in the crockpot. you may wonder why I am making yogurt when I am Paleo. I have recently been diagnosed with SIBO and I have to undertake the GAPS diet to heal my gut. Super fun. Along with homemade bone broth , yogurt is on the list.

2) Make Kombucha

This one is a necessity since I keep spending a TON of money on this delicious nectar. I am starting my new scoby tonight and will keep you updated (as long as it grows and doesn’t get all moldy- gross!!!)

3) Practice Yoga Regularly

Along with healing my gut, I want to heal my mind and soul. One of the ways I want to do this is by practicing yoga three times a week. I have been practicing at Imagine Yoga in Lake Oswego and it has been great!! I highly recommend it! I love Laura and Stacey! They have really challenged me in my flexibility and breathing.

4) Top Secret!

I am scheming and dreaming with my managers at Boom Fitness to implement some new services in addition to personal training!!! I will definitely let you know more soon :0)

So, this is where you come in!! Have you ever made kombucha or yogurt? Any tips for me?
