Giving Back This Holiday Season

Posted Dec 04 2012 11:32am

Hi Everyone-

I would like to take a moment out of my normal health and fitness posting to talk about giving back this holiday season. I love the holidays; I love spending time with my family, I love giving and receiving gifts and I love baking Christmas cookies. One thing I like to do every year is give back during this time of the year. For example next week I will be helping children (of single parents) do arts and crafts and wrap presents for there parent at a church. I also have adopted a child affected by sandy and bought her presents for Christmas this year.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the holidays and forget to give back. Below are some ways you can give back this month.

  1. Volunteer- There are endless ways to volunteer. Many churches offer soup or sandwiches for the homeless. This is a great time of year to visit a children’s hospital or volunteer at a local holidays race. The Holiday Project is a great resource for finding ways to help out.
  2. Donate – There is no better time to donate your old clothing, gently used toys (if you have children) or coats and blankets than now! Don’t forget about those affected by Sandy!

3. Feed The Hungry – Donate canned goods to your local food bank. Don’t forget if you are your company has leftovers this holiday season food shelters will take them!

4. Help a Child – There are collections every holiday season in every city & town for children. You can buy, collect and delivery toys to local charities.

How will you give back this holiday season?
