Fundraising Update

Posted Apr 05 2013 12:34pm
It's been a little while since I did a fundraising update and wow, I've got lots to update you all on!  This is the first time I have ever fundraising for a big event and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't kind of nervous about it when I first took on this challenge.  However, I have been so pleased to see how generous my friends, family and running community is and am happy to say that my fundraising is going great!

Last time I updated, I was around the 40% mark of my $1500 minimum fundraising goal.  Remember my awesome, homemade, "water in the cup" fundraising graphic?

graphic in early March
Since then I've continued speaking with friends and other runners about the work that Run for Water is doing and the donations have continued to come in.  March 22 was World Water Day and I celebrated this day of awareness by releasing the little video I'd been working on about my running and the Run for Water Ultra Marathon.  If you haven't seen it yet, you can view it here

The video seemed to have a great impact because I went from around 50% of my goal to just under 75% that day alone!  It is really great to see how many people have looked into the cause and the charity I'm working with and it really seems to have struck a chord in many people.  It's wonderful to see that things important to me are also important to others.

I've continued to update my hand-drawn fundraising graphic and had to make a few changes to the color of the water and other things (at others' requests) and now here's how it looks today...

I am so pleased to report that as of this morning I've passed my minimum fundraising goal and am sitting just under $1600 raised for Run for Water.  Awesome!  I've even made my way onto the Run for Water fundraising leader board !  Second place!  (The total shown on the leader board does not include cash donations at this point)

But I'm not going to stop there.  It feels great to have reached and surpassed my original $1500 goal, the minimum we needed to collect to be part of the Ultra Marathon team.  I think we can do better than that so I'm just thinking about where I should increase my goal to.  What do you think?

I still have some fundraising things in the works though, so if you're interested, please check out my Mabel's Labels fundraiser.  Mabel's Labels are custom labels for everything your kids have and can potentially lose - durable, dishwasher safe and oh so cute.  Here are some of the labels I have for the boys...

Mabel's ships around the world so if you'd like some, check them out here

I have also received some awesome support from some of my favorite running companies and they have graciously donated products I can use as incentives.  Check out the review I just posted yesterday of the Handana - they've generously donated a Handana for me to giveaway and I am awarding extra entries for anyone who donates to Run for Water.  Details in my review and giveaway post !  I also have other exciting things that have been donated and I'll be reviewing and giving those away in the coming weeks.

And of course, as always, if you'd like to donate you can use the link below.  It's unbelievable but just $35 provides someone with clean water for life for every dollar adds up to make a huge difference.
