“Give me the splendid silent sun with all his beams full dazzling.”
I took this picture when we were in Milwaukee a couple of weeks ago. We were at the zoo and making our way to see the polar bears when I saw this quote hanging out over the lake. I stopped in my tracks when I saw it, mostly because it was so unexpected. The way that the roof shaded the deck by the lake and the words hanging in the sky made it feel like I was walking into an Instagram photo.
I love the quote and while I generally love dazzling sunshine, I have to admit that I’m kind of ready for a break from the heat and humidity. Tough luck, I know, considering it’s only early July. It’s been muggy and hot. As Everett would say, “Humid is like walking in a bowl of soup.” Couldn’t have said it better.
Speaking of Instagram, thank you all for sharing your thoughts on yoga photos and selfies . It’s definitely an interesting discussion and I do intend to respond to the comments because I think that many of you brought up some really great points. You should check it out if you haven’t already.
Ironically, I’m headed over to my local yoga studio today for a yoga photo shoot. They are updating their marketing and website photos and needed some people to take part in a “class” so the photographer could take photos.
On to this week’s Friday Round-up! Here are five favorite posts that I read this week.
1. The Friends We Make On the Internet
It’s true. You really can make friends on the Internet. It’s something that’s really hard to explain to people (i.e. husband) who do not blog or are not involved social media.
2. Heart and Soul of Running
I often get asked why I like running or why it’s special to me. Heather describes it perfectly and how running really is good for your heart and soul.
3. A Happy Place
What’s your happy place? It might be a specific place or scenario you create for yourself. Other times, it might be about a feeling you have. I loved this piece from Martha about her happy place and how it’s changed and not changed over time. Our happy place is really about learning to let go and know that we’ll be OK in the end.
4. Enough with the Hashtag
#HashtagsAreEverywhere #ITryNotToUseThemAllTheTime #ButSometimesTheyAreFun #SorryNotSorry
In all seriousness, this is a pretty amusing article from New York Magazine. Which type of hashtag abuser are you? I’m probably #1 and #3.
5. Where Our Story Continues…My Perspective
I leave you with this beautiful post from Jolene. Jo and her now husband M decided to get married semi-secretly, privately and quietly at the end of June in Napa. Theirs is a incredible story. I couldn’t be more happy for my friend, not to mention that their wedding day fell on my birthday
How was your week? Have you acclimated to the summer heat and humidity?
