Free Yo' Mind! Nike FREE Thoughts

Posted May 25 2011 8:00am
On my last post , I mentioned I ran in my new Nike Frees with my Ninja attire.

Do you wanna know my thoughts?!

Wearing them makes you look intelligent

I purchased the Frees--I know, Nike should totally sponsor me--becausemy Nike Vomeros were overdue to be replaced.

I have run 660 miles in 2011 and around 500 have been in the Vomeros.  Oops!
The Nike Frees are THE most comfortable running shoe I have ever worn.
 Lightweight and nonrestrictive
The laces shift and align with your foot.
Inner casing hugs your foot (no tongue)
Grooves for natural range of motion during your runs
Supportive, cushiony and flexible
I thought of a softball/baseball analogy to better describe the Nike Frees...
There is a "sweet spot" on a bat...the perfect place to hit a ball.  Julia and Jess W. know!
When you make contact on the "sweet spot", you barely feel the hit.
The sound is magic, and you JUST KNOW you executed your swing perfectly!

A similar concept applies to running in the Nike Frees.

I have only run about 10 miles in the Frees, walking an additional 10 miles in them.  During my first run, they felt soft, yet supportive. The toebox enclosure feels amazing; there was zero friction which my beat-up toenails appreciated.

Following my first run, I noticed some stiffness in my foot muscles--much like first-time barefoot runners I'm guessing.  This means my feet need to get stronger: a good thing!

If you are skeptical about running in the Frees, at the very least they will become your favorite cross training/walking shoes.
Cooper clearly prefers barefoot running.

1. How many of you have tried the Frees or another minimalist type of shoe?
2. Or, do you follow the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" approach with your running shoes?
