On my last post , I mentioned I ran in my new Nike Frees with my Ninja attire. Do you wanna know my thoughts?! I purchased the Frees--I know, Nike should totally sponsor me--becausemy Nike Vomeros were overdue to be replaced. I have run 660 miles in 2011 and around 500 have been in the Vomeros. Oops! I thought of a softball/baseball analogy to better describe the Nike Frees... The sound is magic, and you JUST KNOW you executed your swing perfectly! A similar concept applies to running in the Nike Frees. I have only run about 10 miles in the Frees, walking an additional 10 miles in them. During my first run, they felt soft, yet supportive. The toebox enclosure feels amazing; there was zero friction which my beat-up toenails appreciated. Following my first run, I noticed some stiffness in my foot muscles--much like first-time barefoot runners I'm guessing. This means my feet need to get stronger: a good thing! If you are skeptical about running in the Frees, at the very least they will become your favorite cross training/walking shoes. 1. How many of you have tried the Frees or another minimalist type of shoe? 2. Or, do you follow the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" approach with your running shoes? |
