Fool-Proof

Posted Apr 14 2011 5:45pm

After reading about my sprouting success the other week, my mom decided to try it out herself! I love it when I convert her to my ways. (and I love that her kitchen looks like mine– complete with Vita-Mix and Breville juicer ) ;)

She bought the same kit I did:

But decided to wait until I was in town to help her get started. ;) And, of course, I was happy to help!!

We got her seeds soaked and drained last Friday–> then I was off doing wedding activities for the rest of the weekend.

While I was gone, I assumed that my mom would read the instructions, and take care of the seeds, as directed.

She assumed that she didn’t have to touch them until I got back.

LOL :D

When I got home, I took the lid off of her sprouter Sunday night, expecting to find some shriveled, half-dead sprouts, but instead… they were doing just fine!! In fact, we simply rinsed them and put them out on the porch for some sun the next day– and later found perfectly thriving sprouts! Go figure.

Just goes to show, this sprouting system is fool-proof!!!

Check out my mom’s first sprouts:

Alfalfa sprouts. (these came with the kit)

And Fenugreek sprouts! These have a very unusual, bitter flavor. Fenugreek has been associated with a variety of health benefits , but I’m not sure they’re my favorite in the taste-department…

Either way, I’m so impressed these little guys survived! And now that we got my mom’s first “sprout trial” out of the way, I think she’ll be a sprouting pro on her own! ;)

Today’s a pretty busy one for me– I just finished my second appointment with my health coach (another great session, which I’ll talk more about later), and now I’m off to go wedding dress/bridesmaid dress shopping!

Hope you’re all having a great day!!
