This past month I signed up to participate in the foodie pen pals for the first time. It’s a great system that Lindsay came up with!
It allows bloggers to receive and send a package filled with a bunch of goodies and even meet some great new blog friends Nothing better than that!
The blogger that Isent a package to was Lisa . Head over to her blog to see what goodies I sent her!
She also ran her first half marathon this past weekend so make sure you congratulate her on that:)
The blogger that sent ME a package was Mercedes from Satisfy My Sweet Tooth.
Make sure you check out her blog to see what she got from HER pen pal. Also try not to drool if you continue to read her blog. Her food pictures are too awesome and she’s always making something great!
Anyway, lets get on to what I received from Mercedes!
Chocolate Chips. These were literally the BEST chocolate chips I have ever tasted. She must have known I love to bake too. I already used them in some recipes!
Protein Bar. I love trying new protein bars and I really liked this one. I had it for breakfast one morning when I was running late so it was perfect. PB + chocolate combo is also my favorite. So far so good;)
Ginger Thins. Lets just say these are addicting. SO good! I’ve never tried them before but I had them for dessert like everyday. They were light and thin but had a lot of flavor so you didn’t need 789! They got demolished fast.
Honey Crisp Apples.She is my hero. These are my favorite apples in the entire world and somehow these were better than the ones I’ve gotten in Florida. I may need her to send me some every week;P
Pasta.White pasta will NOT kill you if you eat it once in a while! And guess what? This stuff was awesome. I cooked it al dente and she was absolutely right. Perfect way to stock up on some running carbs.
Wild Rice. She provided her family’s homemade soup recipe as well! I made it and it was DELICIOUS. I also used the rice to make the Turkey Veggie Wild Rice Soup the other day. Love it.
Everything she sent, I enjoyed a lot. Thanks again Mercedes!!
And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals . In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions. -You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal! -The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination! -You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!) -Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. *US Residents only please at this time- hopefully we can expand soon!*
