I am floating on Cloud 9 this morning.. because the GIANTS are Superbowl Champions!!
Justin and I just hung in for the Superbowl. He would want the same thing if his Jets were playing.. I get super into the game and need to focus. Having a party of people around me makes that difficult. PLUS.. it was nice and easy to hop in bed as soon as the game was over!
The last time the Giants won the Superbowl.. I was a senior in college. And man..my life is so different now! In a new.. better.. amazing way!
I won’t lie.. I am kind of in limbo as far as the blog goes. I’ve really been enjoying not blogging for the past couple of weeks (or.. rarely blogging). It is giving me more time to do lots of other things.. like spend time with Justin… do wedding things… and get myself really organized at school.
I don’t know where I will go from here…but as for today… I’ve got some AWESOME things to share with you!
Last week, I showed you the yummy goodies that I sent to my Foodie Pen Pal, Kate. I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my OWN box of goodies from Ally…who has an awesome blog that you should check out!
ANYWAY… there was a little mix up with the postal service.. but I got a glorious package in the mail last Thursday when I got home from work. You better believe that I ripped that baby open as quickly as possible… and instantly fell in love with a special hand painted surprise:
Mmhmm. Ally painted this wine glass.. just for me!! On the front.. it says “I teach therefore I drink.” (It is a little hard to see!) There are also some awesome drawings around the glass… all things teacher related. Around the bottom of the glass, it says, LOVE-INSPIRE-LIVE-TEACH-WORKOUT.
This is just the coolest gift ever! Of course, I immediately thought of how cool it would be to make things like this myself. Then I realized it would take neatness… some sort of artistic ability, and a lot of patience. All things that I don’t have a ton of…
I also got a lot of delicious goodies…
I haven’t had a chance to try everything yet, but I tried those freeze dried bananas mixed in with one of my breakfasts. I’ve had freeze dried fruits before…but never bananas. I really liked the different texture they added to my yogurt! The cucumber white Tazo tea is also incredibly refreshing! Ally said she doesn’t see it very often..but I hope I can find it up this way since it is so good!
I’ve also been loving those multigrain sqaures! I’ve been spreading nut butter.. or peanut flour over them.. and they make for a nice quick snack! I am excited to try the Seasweed Snacks and the Live Pumpkin Bar.. two things that I’ve never had before!
And Ally… with that chocolate.. you found your way to a special place in my heart!
Thanks so much for the hook-up this month girl! Everything you got me is amazing!!!
And now it’s time for some details about In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions. -You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal! -The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination! -You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!) -Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
*Breaking news! This month we’re going to do a trial run for our Canadian friends. I’m still not exactly sure how it will work with shipping costs and stuff for you guys up North, but if you’re willing to give it a try for a month and provide me with some feedback, that would be awesome! Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
If you’re interested in participating for February, please send an email to Lindsay at and include the following information
-Your full name
-Your email address
-Your blog name/address
-Your twitter handle (if applicable)
-WHETHER YOU ARE A US RESIDENT OR CANADIAN RESIDENT. – this is SUPER important so I can get you on the right list!
I will need to hear from you by February 4th as pairings will be emailed on February 5th!
