HAPPY NEW YEAR! Of course, we can't say goodbye to 2012 without making mention of all our recipes . Cooking is a huge stress release for me, so it's no wonder I spent so much time in the kitchen. 79 recipes in all, it was difficult to pick my favorite 12.
Looking back through, my cuisine was sort of all over the place. However (and as always), there's lots of chocolate and peanut butter.
I also posted a few recipes on Writing Chapter Three , if you'd like to check those out. Ultimately, I decided the best place for all my eats to live is on this site alone. I feel like there's a disproportionate number of desserts. I definitely have a sweet tooth, but -- more -- I think dinners often don't get photographed before they're entirely devoured in this house.
In 2013, I'd like to learn how to bake a delicious, crusty sourdough bread. I'd like to venture beyond cookies for dessert. Bake with more fruit. I'd also like to make my cooking, in general, much less complicated. Fewer ingredients, more local foods, etc.
At the same time, I'd like to experiment and push beyond the staples I've made in the past. So, I guess that means exploring new ways of eating and getting complete vegetarian nutrition.
We're already off to an adventurous start . . .
My BIL and to-be SIL bought me this awesome cookbook for Christmas: Crazy Sexy Kitchen : 150 Plant-Empowered Recipes to Ignite a Mouthwatering Revolution. It's the companion book to all these others by Kris Carr -- lots of great vegan recipes and lots of tasty juicing ideas. Stephen and I watched Hungry for Change on Netflix the other night. Not much we didn't already know, but it acted as a nice reminder and good start to the new year.
And we're in the process of growing a scoby (mother) to experiment with brewing our own kombucha. The whole thing sort of creeps me out, but it's also delicious, so I'm up for it.
