Let’s put it this way- I wouldn’t “like” meat on Facebook.
In fact, I hardly eat meat during the week at all anymore. I do still love seafood though and don’t see that relationship ever turning sour (but then again, I never dreamed that I’d break up with chicken either…).
Steak, Wine, and Popcorn Sundays have changed slightly. On most Sundays, Michael and I still grill steaks, but I don’t love eating them as much anymore. Luckily, I have a very adaptable husband who recommended cookingseafood on Sundays from time to time instead.
As you may imagine, it has been difficult explaining my eating habits, and I felt the need to put a label on them.
What the heck do you call someone who eats a ton of veggie based meals and tempeh, is repulsed by most forms of meat, and still eats fish and sometimes steak?
So, what is a Flexitarian exactly? Well, it is a “new term for healthy dieting that minimizes meat without excluding it altogether” (source). In other words, it is a diet of mostly veggies and grains with a small amount of meat sprinkled in.
A Flexitarian gets up in the morning with the intention of not eating meat.

I’ve had so much fun experimenting with new dishes since trying to eat more plant-based foods. I’ve found that if I make a dish that calls for chicken, I can easily substitute tempeh or tofu (one such recipe will be posted tomorrow).
To be honest, I’m really enjoying the process of discovering new foods and vegetarian restaurants. And I cannot wait to experiment more with vegetarian and vegan recipes in my own kitchen.
