Follow the yellow brick road!

I had the funnest weekend of ALL TIME.

Back story…

Josh and I decided not to get each other Christmas presents this year, neither of us needed or really wanted anything, so that was our plan. On Christmas Day, Josh showed up at my parents’ house and handed me an envelope all casually at the door when he walked in. He said he knew we weren’t supposed to get presents, but he wanted to get me something anyway. Inside were two tickets to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of The Wizard of Oz (one of my favourite movies of all time– right up there with The Sound of Music, hah). I was so surprised, I bawled my eyes out like a big baby.

FAST FORWARD. The tickets were for Saturday night! We booked a hotel using points so we wouldn’t have to drive home or anywhere afterwards.

We went to the city a bit early on Saturday so I could go to Lululemon and spend my Christmas gift cards and use my R&D discount– I can only get it at that location. I picked up a pair of winter running tights in dark blue and a bright orange long sleeve. Obsessed.

I also had a $100 Sport Chek gift card that I won in Christina ‘s giveaway (weee!!), way before Christmas. I hunted down the only pair of zero drop trainers that they carry (aside from Vibrams), so I can wear them outside for the rest of the winter. They were only in stock at the new Yonge/Eglinton location. They’re pretty cute considering they were my only choice! I took them for a spin yesterday, and my feet stayed warm and dry! Even in PILES of snow!

It also just so happened to be Winterlicious in Toronto, so we got in on that action too. If you aren’t from Toronto– Winterlicious and Summerlicious are events in Toronto where the city’s best restaurants offer prix fixe menus. If gives you a chance to try out new restaurants at a fraction of the regular prices. I love, love, LOVE going to a couple every Winter and Summer.

We picked Trevor Kitchen & Bar  and it. was. amazing. Let’s recap, shall we? #nojudging #cleanfoodfreezone

1. My appetizer– beet salad with the best goat cheese of all time. 2. Josh’s appetizer– foie gras 3/4. We had the same things– Main was steak and TRUFFLE GOAT CHEESE POUTINE. Yup. and 4. Warm chocolate cake with caramel sauce and peanut butter chantilly.

One of the best parts of this restaurant is that instead of mints with your bill, they bring you a GIANT BOWL of house spun cotton candy! It was grape flavour on Saturday :) (No, not raisin flavour Stacy, hahaha).

After dinner we walked over to the theatre and got to our AWESOME SEATS just in time for my best friend Dorothy to come over.

I’M YOUR DOROTHY, GUYS!

After the show we wandered around downtown for a little bit before going back to our hotel like a couple of seniors.

The next day on our way home, Josh had to stop by the Summerhill Market to pick up some flour that you apparently can’t get anywhere else in Canada (he is currently obsessed with making fresh bread). I was THRILLED to find that they carried a few other gems you apparently can’t get in Canada either:

BOOM. The milk ones were actually for my sister and I’m pretty sad I didn’t get some milk ones too.

I frantically texted Christina , and called my sister and we all stocked up! Someone needs to come take this coconut PB away from me. Seriously.

And that concludes my awesome weekend. I want to do it over again.

What’s your favourite product you can’t buy where you live?

What’s your favourite broadway musical?
