Greetings from OHIO!!! My morning started at 3:45 when the alarm went off and I raced around getting ready for my flight. Casey was nice enough to take me to the airport at 4 something this morning – true love! When he pulled up, 55 minutes before my flight was scheduled to depart, I was totally freaked out to see about 400 people waiting in line for security. Who knew Friday morning was such a popular time to fly? Not me!
Backing up to before I left the house – I am never one to go without my favorite things, so I packed an old peanut bar jar full of OATS and prayed I could get it through airport security. The whole time I was waiting in line I was getting more and more worried about: A) missing my flight and B) losing my oatmeal! When my bag went through the conveyor, immediately three security guards jumped on it, and I started saying right away “it’s just oatmeal!” They were all a little confused, but after a little begging and pleading, the nice guard handed it to me and said, “I’m going to let you have it because it’s such a creative and healthy breakfast.” Score for healthy oatmeal lovers everywhere! :)
Unfortunately I was wedged between to larger men on my first flight, and I was so cramped I decided the oats would have to wait. The minute I got Atlanta, I grabbed a cup of Starbucks and a spoon, and dug in…
There wasn’t much peanut butter actually left in the jar, so I topped it with an extra blob, some raisins, and pumpkin seeds.
Totally worth the wait! It was lukewarm, but still delicious. I got a few funny looks from my airport neighbors, but I was so happy to eating my breakfast that I didn’t care.
I got this large coffee thinking I needed a pick me up after such an early start to the morning…
But when I got on the plan and saw that had THREE entire seats all to myself, it took me about two second to lay down across them and pass out for the entire plane ride.
I hit the ground in Dayton and literally ran out of the terminal to find Lindsey and Mary Ann waiting for me!! I can’t possible describe how much fun I have with these two. We talked and laughed hysterically the entire way to Cincinnati, and headed straight to one of my favorite lunch spots – What’s For Dinner!
Look who else joined us for lunch – my adorable MOM! Best mom in the world. :)
I got the grilled eggplant sandwich, which was good but had too much goat cheese (I asked them to go light). But really this lunch wasn’t about the food…
It was about the wonderful company!! Two besties and my mom all together – the perfect way to spend an afternoon at home. :) (Check out the bags under my eyes – someone needs a nap!)
After lunch I said goodbye to my mom (until next weekend!), and then the three of us headed to Anthropologie to do some shopping. I got a cute necklace that I’m hoping to wear tonight! We headed back to Lindsey’s apartment so that she could pack for the rest of the weekend, and Mary Ann and I parked it on the couch to watch this week’s episode of GLEE!
I hadn’t seen it yet because there was a tragic non-recording issue at my house this week, so I was totally excited to catch up on Madonna week. Even better, Mary Ann brought my a CD of all the Madonna Glee songs – can’t wait to sing these on my car trip next weekend! :)
I am currently blogging from the front seat of Lindsey’s car, headed north to Columbus for the rest of the weekend, and testing out one of these…
As part of my ongoing quest to try every naturally sweetened beverage on the market, I was totally pumped to find the new Vitamin Water Zero. I really like it, but it is REALLY sweet. I am sugar fiend, so it doesn’t bother me, but MA and Lindsey both thought it was overkill.
Now we are singing at the top of our lungs getting ready for tonight’s big event. Did I mention where we are headed? TIM MCGRAW and Lady Antebellum concert tonight – whohooooooo!!
It is no secret that I am the biggest country fan around, and Tim McGraw is one of my ultimate favorites. I’ve already seen him in concert 5 or 6 times, but it never gets old and actually always gets better. The only thing better than a country concert is a country concert with these two girls – I AM SO EXCITED!
It’s going to be a late night tonight, so I’ll be back bright and early with concert recaps and more from Columbus – happy Friday to you all! :)
Good luck to my friend Amelia and cousin Haley, who are both running in the Country Music Marathon tomorrow in Nashville! Crossing my fingers that mother nature spares you the tornados and storms tomorrow…
