7:30am I left the house in one piece. I arrived at work in one piece. I worked all day, then headed home at 5.
That’s when I swerved to miss a car that was coming close, hit the curb sideways, and flew off my bike and landed on my face. On the sidewalk.
When I got up, I thought for sure that either my nose was broken or I had knocked out some teeth. But luckily, that wasn’t the case. I was, however, gushing blood from my nose and my mouth (although since I was on a streetcorner with my bike, I had no idea where all the blood was coming from. All I knew was that it was gushing all over everything, including me, my bike, my clothes, etc.)
Eventually, some employees at a pizza place across the street ran outside to help me. They brought towels and ice, which I was very thankful for. And then I had to get back on my bike (which was a little banged up but ok) and ride back home.
This is what I looked like when I got home, after I cleaned up:
This is what I looked like when I woke up the next morning.
This is how it looks today, almost two days later:
Good thing I was wearing my helmet! My body is totally sore all over, though, from the impact. There won’t be any running or gym for me for a little while…
On Tuesday, I decided to ride my bike to work.
