Are you a new mom who is struggling to get back into your pre-pregnancy shape, or to just feel like yourself again? Or are you a veteran mom with toddler- or preschool-age kiddos that can’t seem to find time to work out, much less find time for yourself? Are you a working mom trying to balance it all? As moms, we tend to put others first, taking care of everyone in our household (including our pets) before we even think about ourselves. But how can you take care of others without taking care of yourself?
After the birth of my son, I went back to work for six months and finally made the decision (after many discussions with my husband) to resign and do what I enjoy. I realized that life is too precious to let it pass by without doing something you love. Fit ‘N’ Well Mommy is a healthy living blog designed to document the experiences of being a new mom, staying fit, and making healthy meals for my family. It’s a place for me to share my knowledge of and passion for inspiring other women to take care of themselves—being their best self—so they can be a Fit ‘N’ Well Mommy, too! I want this blog to be the resource that I wish I had when I was pregnant and adjusting to life with a baby.
As a new mom, Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach, it has been difficult to find the right balance of me-time, starting my own business of pre- and post-natal wellness coaching and personal training, family-time, and spending quality time with my husband. Though I stay at home with our 2-year-old son and work hard to be the best mommy I can be for him, it doesn’t mean that I have to give up “me”.
Being a mommy doesn’t always mean sacrifice: In order to be your best self, you have to fulfill your needs, such as eating healthy and nourishing foods, staying active, and doing things to treat yourself. Fit ‘N’ Well Mommy chronicles my day-to-day juggling act of meeting my needs and the needs of my family. I invite you to explore the site and check out topics that might be of interest to you, especially if you have little ones who are just starting solids , or if you are struggling with breast feeding . Maybe you are having a tough time with establishing routines . Or you might be way past the baby stage, and just want to find ways to get into better shape and eat healthier foods . If you are pregnant, check out ways to stay active , eat healthy , and learn about my birth story .
Here are a few of my favorite posts:
Thankful Thursday and Halloween Fun : When things get busy, or I’m stressed, I sometimes forget to slow down, take a deep breath and really appreciate all that I have in my life. It is easy to take things for granted and not reflect on what we are blessed with or show appreciation or love for others. I thought it would be great to make a list of what I am thankful for.
Round and Round and Two New Recipes : Routines help you adhere to a healthy lifestyle that last a lifetime. But, it is important to try new things and break out of your routine every once in a while. You need change in order to grow.
Introspective Friday: Realizing that routines are what make me who I am and I won’t be able to let them go. I have learned that I need to embrace them, try my best to change things up, all while keeping things fresh.
Alaska : A recap of our time with my in-laws in Alaska being reminded of what is truly important in life: Family, health, faith, food and shelter. Everything else is not that important (if at all).
I hope you will visit Fit ‘N’ Well Mommy and learn that you don’t have to sacrifice yourself in order to be the best mom or spouse. You can still make time to be fit, make healthy meals for your family, all while being your best self!
