It’s true, I have finally hopped on the ‘ What I Ate Wednesday ’ band wagon. I was hesitant at first because I also do ‘Workout Wednesday’ posts. However, there’s nothing wrong with a little routine once in while. Plus I think it can be fun to see what healthy living bloggers actually eat in on a typical day.
You can see from my Tuesday meals and snacks that I always use my culinary skills and education often get lazy and eat veggies, hummus, and pita bread entirely too often! Lately, my motto has been ‘quick and healthy’ and these meals definitely fit the bill. Here goes!
Breakfast: Whipped Strawberry Overnight Oats
This was my first time trying this mix and, unfortunately, it looks a lot better than it tastes. I prepared it by blending 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop Sunwarrior Protein , and 2/3 cup strawberries. I stirred this mix with 1/2 cup oatbran and let it sit overnight. I also added a spoonful of creamy peanut butter before eating. Next time, I’ll try adding some NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia drops that have come highly recommended.
Lunch: Leftover Trader Joe’s Sag Paneer mixed with raw shredded green cabbage and chopped romaine lettuce. Served with a side of whole wheat pita bread and Trader Joe’s cilantro lime hummus.
Me thinks I like Trader Joe’s a little too much! If you have a TJ’s nearby and haven’t tried the cilantro lime hummus or the Sag Paneer, you are missing out.
Afternoon Snacks: Strawberry Fruition Bar , pear, and GT’s Trilogy Kombucha
Move over Larabars, there’s a snack new bar in town and it’s sooo good. I love these Fruition bars because they taste like homemade strawberry jam with a little added texture from whole oats and chia seeds.
I sipped on the GT’s Kombucha throughout the afternoon and evening.
Repetitious yes, but also delicious and nutritious! You can see my skillet roasted veggies recipe here .
Dessert: Trader Joe’s Soy Vanilla Ice Cream topped with bran cereal, chocolate chips and raisins
PM Snack: experimental Sunwarrior Protein Chocolate muffin for one
I typically try not to eat after dessert but I was up late working and needed some sustenance. Sadly, my camera battery was charging so I couldn’t snap a pic. I’m still working on the recipe because it needs much more flavor. It was a combo of Sunwarrior Protein , TJ’s pancake mix, egg white, almond milk, cocoa powder, and honey. I also added a touch of creamy peanut butter before eating.
So there you have it! I’m off to the gym for a great workout. I’ll be back in the afternoon to share this week’s brand new workout and then I’m heading downtown to hang out with Fran !
