We stayed in Corvallis for a couple days and then headed to the Oregon Coast!! I LOVE the coast. Yes, it always rains & looks miserable, but! It has been a tradition in my family for years to go to the coast on spring break.

Some of our favorite stops are these

1. Mo’s!

They have THE BEST clam chowder ever made! There are a bunch of Mo’s Restaurants along the coast, we stopped at one of the two in Newport. 0323111409a I don’t branch out much when I eat out there...I always get a bowl or cup of clam chowder & some home baked bread.

Salt water taffy is sold everywhere. But if you want to try THE VERY BEST kind of salt water taffy, you’ll find it at Depot Bay’s Candy Shoppe.

image The very first time I was there, they told us how their taffy is made different from everyone else’s. Apparently their secret is egg whites. According to them, it makes the taffy a little stiffer & you have to warm it up a bit in your mouth before you start chewing it. I’m no taffy expert, but I think this taffy is awesome. I highly recommend it. 0323111515a

3. The Beach, of course!

I was able to go for an hour run along the coast line. It was great. My legs were a little tired, probably from sitting/driving SO LONG. (that’s me in running!!) DSC08096

I didn’t use my Ipod at all & just ran to the waves & seagulls!! My feet were soaked & my legs got trashed by the sand!

    4. Tillamook Cheese Factory

First of all, are you a fan of Tillamook Cheese? Maybe it’s because I’m an Oregon native, but I love the stuff. At the cheese factory you get to watch the cheese making/packaging process. The little man loved looking at all the conveyor belts & waving at the workers.

Clever shirts!

Then you get to taste test all their cheeses: cheese curds, cheddar, monteray jack, aged white cheddar, etc. Our little man even wanted to feed me some!

After the cheese, you keep going and order some delicious Tillamook ice-cream, mmmm. We shared some Carmel Toffee Crunch in a homemade waffle cone. This place was PACKED, but it was worth the chaos!

That was pretty much all we could handle along the coast. Not a lot of stops, but I recommend each of them as MUSTS!!
