Favorite Overnight Oats Recipe & Fun Blogger Survey Q and A
Posted Jun 02 2011 7:34pm
Well hello there! I hope that you are having a most fabulous day. I have a few topics to cover, so I’ll be jumping around a bit. First, another quick reminder to continue publicizing Tonya’s story . When I last checked this afternoon, donations to Tonya’s fund had reached $13,330, which is double what it was two days ago. What a fantastic display of how much generosity is present in this wonderful blogging community of ours. As there is still a ways to go before reaching the goal of $100,000, please continue to share Tonya’s story via email, Facebook, Twitter, and word of mouth. Thank you for all of your generous contributions of money, time, and effort to make this fundraising so successful!
Second, I can’t believe that I have waited so long to tell you but I have finally created my favorite overnight oats recipe.
Meet my newly beloved Cinnamon Banana Chia Seed Overnight Oats
I realize that I haven’t reinvented the overnight oats wheel with this mix but boy does it hit the spot. In fact, I’ve made it five times in the last six days.
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 chopped ripe banana
1/2 cup multigrain oats
3-4 dashes cinnamon
1 tbsp chia seeds
Mush everything together in a bowl, let it sit in the fridge overnight, and add a nice glob of peanut butter in the morning.
Third, I have neglected responding to some lovely blogger awards and Q & As bestowed upon me by my lovely blog buddies Parita , Melissa , Lauren , and Cait . (Please let me know if I’ve forgotten any!) Cait’s questions are very similar to those that accompany the Bootylicious Award Melissa gave me, therefore, I will start by answering those.
Name 3 things sitting next to you right now
My two laptops
The story of why I have two laptops is a long one so I won’t bore you with it. I figure as long as I have two, I might as well make use of both of them!
A glass of kombucha
This weekend I found a ‘2 for 1’ deal at Whole Foods and decided to treat myself with my favorite fermented beverage. I can’t wait until we are settled into our new place so that (among other exciting things) I can start making my own Kombucha with Lindsay’s handy guide !
My shadow, AKA Mr. Mosely
Mosely follows me everywhere and is actually sleeping on my feet at this very moment.
Name 2 foods that you can’t live without
If you’ve seen even a few of my breakfast posts then you know that my favorite foods are peanut butter and banana.
I try different breakfast toppings but always end up running back to my beloved PB and B!
Name 2 things you can’t live without
I’m a minimalist and end up taking very little with me when I leave the apartment. I go without my phone, keys, and wallet whenever possible, a habit that drives Nick crazy. The two items that I use the most are my Macbook and my Mizuno Running Shoes .
Name 2 people you can’t live without
I’m going to cheat on this one and name more than two. My husband Nick, my mom Judy, my brothers Carl and Jonathan, and my buddy Emmy. I would write entirely too much and tear up if I try to explain why but you can read more about my family here and here . I truly don’t know what I would do without them!
Name 1 thing you did today
The difference between today and most of my weekdays is that I took a late morning nap with Mosely instead of my usual run.
I was sad to miss the sunny weather but my body needed a rest day and the nap was simply glorious!
Name 2 things you have learned from the healthy blogging community.
Wow, I could list so many. I have only been blogging for a couple months and already I have learned so many wonderful lessons from my readers and fellow bloggers. The two that come to mind are:
Be yourself – don’t be afraid to be honest about your weaknesses.
Don’t fear failure – you have to take personal and professional risks to achieve great things.
I would love to learn more about you…
Go ahead and answer a few of the questions and feel free to cheat like I did!
