Well, I thought this past weekend was going to be our last weekend as a family of three (or four if you count our little furball).
Now, I’m not so sure.
I am still very pregnant with no signs that baby girl is going to make an appearance very soon. I am trying SO hard to relax and not to rush things but man…waiting almost 10 months is a long time when you’re excited to finally meet someone.
So because we thought this might be our last weekend sans baby girl, we did our best to spend some quality time with Caleb while staying relatively close to our hospital ;)
We started the weekend with a trip to the farmers market for some delicious veggies…
And then we went strawberry picking at Gillis Hill Farm. We’ve heard so much about the farm and it’s homemade ice cream and with the beautiful weather this weekend, it was finally time to go and see what this place was all about.
Caleb had a blast helping us pick fresh strawberries and the hunk and I shared one too many laughs at his over zealousness to pick everything – including the barely ripe strawberries. Oh the things you find funny as a parent, hah. Either way, we’re so proud of him and we loved that our time at the farm ended up as a mini lesson on where real food comes from. Someday, I can’t wait to go back with both of our kids and make even more memories there.
On Fathers Day we kept it pretty simple. Our day started with a phone call to our parents, then Caleb and I got up early to make Daddy breakfast in bed and surprise him with a homemade card.
Caleb drew all over the inside of the card and I captioned Caleb’s masterpiece as “…and I love you”. Needless to say, Daddy loved the card ;)
Since this was the hunk’s first fathers day home (he was deployed for it last year) we originally had plans to visit a nearby waterpark. But then the hunk decided he didn’t want us to spend any money as his Father’s Day gift. Haha. So we ended up stuffing our cooler to the brim and made our way to the beach instead.
And a cheap but incredible day it was!
The weather was absolutely perfect and the company, even better. We had a great time pampering daddy in the sand, riding waves with our little beach bum, and having a picnic on the beach with the delicious lunch we packed.
I would say that the only thing that could have made our trip better was having our family beach day complete with our little girl.
But I won’t.
Our little family of three had an amazing time spending these last few moments together before things get chaotic again. This weekend ended up being one of those weekends that I’ll remember forever. I may have packed my hospital bag this weekend but instead of worrying about her arrival or or spending every second waiting in anticipation, we lived in the moment and soaked up every precious moment we had with just our little man, Caleb.
We’ve waited long enough so we can wait just a little more. And just as my mom says, you can’t rush perfection or hurry a masterpiece…
