Family week 2011 is coming to a close and I would say it was another successful year. Friday afternoon was spent doing mostly:
Before napping we took advantage of the rainy day by lunching at the British Beer Company.
Delicious fruity beers were consumed along with some better than average bar food.
Friday night we took it easy as we had a big bash to prepare for the next day.
We were celebrating my parents and my aunt and uncle’s 30th and 10th wedding anniversaries! How fun to have TWO big anniversaries ending in zero this year!
Luau style, of course.
As you saw from yesterday’s Corner Office post , BMB was home in PA with his mom. Or so I THOUGHT. Sneaky little guy rented a car and drove the 5 hours to Massachusetts yesterday morning to surprise everyone at the party. He called me and said that the Fed Ex guy was trying to deliver something to the house and no one was answering the door. I walked out front and he creepily said “that’s a nice pink dress you’re wearing”.
I was so surprised. I never expected him to come up for the party but was so happy that he did.
Food wise Beth and I were in charge of the dips.
I made the EatLiveRun buffalo chicken dip , Beth made a taco dip, and we also made the crowd pleasing caramel apple dip.
However my brother Danny won best appetizer with his baked brie served two ways. One had blackberry jam and the other strawberry.
Dinner included a lot of this.
As we were eating a lot of these.
There were also little neck clams, which were weird but delicious.
For the non seafood lovers there was a ton more food.
Salads, steak, corn, and more.
Besides food the main event of the party was the intense baggo tournament.
The arena was ready hours before the party started. Teams were randomly drawn and the competition was on.
I think the tournament started around 4 pm.
5 hours later the winners had their picture taken with the referee.
Somehow I managed to make it to the championship round, but lost respectfully. The closing of the tournament meant it was time for cake.
After cake we took some memorable family shots. First the girl cousins with grandma.
Totally normal. Then the long anticipated triplet picture.
I think we’ve outdone ourselves. The remainder of the evening was full of random shenanigans.
Props make everything better.
Thanks to Club Brigham for hosting another memorable event!
Off to enjoy my last day of family week and back to Chicago tonight!
