Home Entertainment Family Feud & healthy breakfast ideas

Lately, Michael and I have a new addiction.

Well, “addiction” might be a bit strong, but we are really into watching Family Feud.

We’re extremely picky though and only prefer the shows that are hosted by Steve Harvey.

(This is one of my very favorite clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqDGK_UjfFI)

Steve’s the best.

I’m generally not a competitive person by nature, but I have to admit that I take my Family Feud playing very seriously.

Not to brag or anything, but I’m pretty much a Family Feud genius.

Moving along to breakfast- one of my other favorite things.

For several weeks, I seemed to be in a breakfast rut.  Morning after morning, I’d get up and make yet another protein pancake.

Even though I love protein pancakes, breakfast started to get a little boring.

Plus, I felt as though I was boring all of you with the same old photos of my pancakes!

Once I realized that I was stuck in a rut, I decided to spice things up and try something different each morning for five days.

Here’s how I did…

Green smoothie

Kashi Go Lean Crunch with fruit & almond milk

Overnight oats (with loads of cinnamon)

Egg whites & veggies in a whole wheat tortilla

Trader Joe’s whole wheat French Toast

Of course, I am typing this post as I am eating a protein pancake, but Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?

What are some of your healthy go-to breakfast options?  I’d love some new suggestions to add to my mix.

If you could be on one game show, what would it be?  I’d obviously pick Family Feud, but I always wanted to be on Supermarket Sweep as a kid.   I loved that show!

  1. I would LOVE to be on Jeopardy. Or a dating show, that would be so funny! I’ve been grabbing a lot of Greek yogurts for breakfast lately. Easy!!!!!

    • LOL. You’d be awesome on a dating show! I would be horrible on Jeopardy. I cannot even imagine!

Greek yogurt is a great go-to healthy breakfast. Sometimes I can handle it with my lactose intolerance, so I should give it another shot. :)

  2. Michelle

I usually just have maple and brown sugar oatmeal at work but on weekends, I love either a toasted wheat english muffin with natural peanut butter and strawberry preserves (I’ll never tire of PB&J!) or Van’s waffles with strawberries and real maple syrup. But that’s pretty much where my variety ends :) And I’m totally flashing back to afternoons watching Supermarket Sweep and Shop Til You Drop now – LOVED those shows! (and sometimes I still pretend I’m on SS when I’m in the grocery store, haha)

    • LOL. Those shows were the best!!! Running around the grocery store grabbing a ton of things off the shelves just sounds like so much fun for some reason. :)

I love Van’s waffles, and I’m all out. I need to restock tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder!

  3. I always turn to a smoothie in the mornings….so easy to throw whatever I have in the blender. Ive been into sliced bananas with almond butter poured on top with hemp seeds. I want to try your famous protein pancakes soon! They always look so yummy. I hate to be a downer – its only because I care – but Kashi is made with GMO foods and that means there are a lot of toxins in them. I was surprised too when I found out and try to tell everyone who isn’t aware. I just wanted to let you know – specially being pregnant.

    • Thanks for the head’s up about Kashi. Guess that I should have paid more attention to those labels. :( Luckily, I finished the box, so they are all done and out of the house!

The sliced bananas are a great idea. I need to try that soon. :)

  4. I love banana pancakes….i use whole eggs though and they are so rich and tasty…yummm !

    • I also love banana pancakes! I’m not afraid of the whole eggs either. I especially love dipping my toast in the yolk when I made them over easy. :)

  5. I wanted to be on The Price is Right. (With Bob Barker, of course) How fun it would have been to run like a crazy person down the aisle, jump around gleefully on stage, and hug and kiss the crap out of Bob!

For breakfast, I flip-flop between 3 things: cinnamon oatmeal, yellow grits, and toast with a topping. For the kids, I will make pancakes, cinnamon pitas, or pita pizzas. I definitely do not want to have to think too much about breakfast. I need the time to plan lunch and dinner.

    • I used to think it would be so cool to be on The Price is Right, but I always get the answers wrong! LOL.

I agree about breakfast- I want it to be simple too, especially since I usually wake up ravenous!

  6. Did you know they have a Family Feud app for the smartphones? M husband and I play all the time. I will warn you there are some bugs that will start you back to level one after you made it to level 18. But, you can check out your true genius-ness :)

    • Yes! I have that app on my phone and was borderline addicted for awhile there. Come think of it, it has been a few months since I’ve played. I need to change that and practice my sweet Family Feud skills! ;)
