I realized something this morning that made me happy (besides the fact that it is Friday.) I realized that I’ve run more this week than any other in a long time… probably since training for the National Half Marathon last spring!
What’s made the difference? Well for starters, the weather has been fantastic. Low humidity and morning temps in the 60s = prime running weather. I truly believe that summer runs make you a better runner but man, can they be brutal.
The other bit of running inspiration I’ve had lately is Anne , my darling friend, blog mentor, classmate and running buddy. At the beginning of the semester we made a pact: to run together one morning each week and to study biochemistry together 2 times a week… nerdy, I know.
Yesterday was our 3rd Thursday morning run in a row! I nabbed this cute photo of us from Anne’s post . She has a super cool watch that tracks your pace and mileage and mile splits!
We started our day with a great workout (4.3 miles) and a solid 40 minutes of socializing. Runs go by so fast when you have a fun friend to chat with!
I ran again this morning (another 4.25 miles) to free up my evening for yes, more socializing (outside of running). Woot woot!
Here’s my workout log this week:
Monday: 4.25 mile run
Tuesday: 4.25 mile run
Wednesday: 90 minutes of power yoga (to stretch out after those runs!)
Thursday: 4.3 mile run
Friday: 4.25 mile run
Saturday (tomorrow): Salutation Nation ; an annual nation-wide yoga class which I’m SO excited for!
Sunday: thinking of running either 9 or 11 miles in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Long runs make for great reflections.
I’m so happy to be falling in love with running again!
On to Today’s Tastes:
I’m currently experiencing “sandwich burnout” so spent a few extra minutes whipping up a bean, onion and tomato quesadilla for lunch today. I just wrapped it in foil and hit the road!

I also threw in some fresh fruit for snacks since I’ll be on campus until dinnertime.

Yay for a healthy, filling lunch. What a great way to start the weekend!
Well friends, it’s time to get to work.
On tap for this weekend is a lot of exercise (yoga and a long run), sleep and school work, as well as a country concert with the girls tomorrow night!
What are you up to this weekend?
