Fall Sunsets & Honey-Salt Facials

Posted Oct 11 2011 9:31am

This past weekend I was off from school (for any new readers- I have class Saturday & Sunday for my masters) and took advantage of the beautiful weather. I headed upstate to our lake house and cursed myself for not bringing my camera. The following were taken with my phone! Not bad, but still.

There is just something about sunsets that I love. They are so peaceful and beautiful and I never get sick of them. Since its autumn, the sun sets right in front of our dock (during the summer I have to take a boat out to see it better). It was a perfect calm + warm day.

Can you spy the weiner? He is barking at a squirrel. Sorry bud, he’s not coming down.

Continuation of the setting…

^ I thought that was pretty sweet

My brother and his girlfriend coming in from fishing ^

I call this.. the enlightened weiner. hahah

Such a relaxing evening! Couldn’t have asking for a better weekend off.

Then that night I decided to make one of my favorite facial scrubs. All you mix is raw honey and kosher salt ( or sea salt) together. I scrubbed it all over my face, then let it sit for a few minutes. If you use raw honey, the antibacterial properties are still there because pasteurizing/heating  kills the beneficial bacteria. After a few minutes it actually starts to slightly sting, which means its working!

Just try not to eat your face.

So much cheaper than buying a scrub at the store! And its good for you. I love using things on my skin that I can actually eat. Our skin absorbs everything, so its so important to use good quality products- preferably organic as much as possible. It gets pricey, so thats why I love making my own. This one is great for getting rid of dry skin!

What was the highlight of your weekend? Did you have Monday off? I worked yesterday, and absorbed as much sun as I could before it officially gets cold!
