Fall-Flavored Treats

Posted Oct 11 2011 6:33pm

There are many, many things that I love about the Fall season:

  • The fresh Fall air
  • The colors in the trees
  • College football
  • Pumpkin
  • Apple picking
  • Fall fashion

etc…

I also love all of the *specialty* items that come out in Fall.  Like pumpkin-flavored goodies and cinnamon-spiced drinks and lattes.  Over the past two days, I got to try two Fall-inspired ice creams and I loved them both!

Monday night I tried Baskin’s Robbins Trick or Treat OreoHoly yum!  This vanilla ice cream is loaded with black and orange goodness – orange filled Oreos, Butterfingers and Baby Ruth.

Tuesday night I tried something even better!  Hubs picked up a container of Edy’s Slow-Churned Pumpkin Ice Cream !  What I loved about this was that it was sooo rich and sooo creamy and was packed with pumpkin pie flavors.  Plus, what’s even better is that a half cup serving is only 90 calories!!!!  Hello new best friend.

QUESTION:  WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FALL TREAT?

Aside from my Monday night splurge at Baskin Robbins, I also enjoyed a ton of fruits and veggies on Monday (which is why I felt it okay to splurge in the first place).

Strawbs and yogurt (no granola today):

Big veggie salad with edamame.  And some pretzels for snacking.

My sister, brother-in-law, Hubs and I grabbed dinner at a local neighborhood spot before Baskin Robbins.  I ordered this amazing fall-inspired salad that came with sliced pears, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries, baby arugula, goat cheese and raspberry vinaigrette.  The flavor combination was outstanding!  I seriously could have licked the plate.  I must recreate this at home!

Aside from my Tuesday night Pumpkin-ice-cream-eating-fest, I also enjoyed some great and healthy eats.

Go-to breakfast: Yogurt, strawberries, granola.

For lunch I made a turkey, cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwich on a toasted bagel thin.  Carrots and Red Pepper strips on the side for crunch.

For dinner, I whipped up a new Fall-inspired soup recipe [coming soon!].  Gingered buttercup squash soup….mmmmmm….look at that color!  Served with a piece of foccacia from the Farmer’s market.

Post-dinner I munched on some chocolate-covered rice cakes with my pumpkin ice cream.

Oh, and what else did I do today???

BOO-YAH!  6 miles baby.  And some other stuff…

  • Chest, Chest press machine (3 x 15 reps w/60 lbs)
  • Chest, Peck deck (3 x 20 reps w/60 lbs)
  • Chest, Cable cross-overs (3 x 15 reps w/70 lbs)
  • Back, Lat pull-down (3 x 15 reps w/70 lbs)
  • Back, One-armed rows (3 x 15 reps w/30 lbs)
  • Back, Reverse peck deck (3 x 15 reps w/40 lbs)
