Are you in slow blinking mode?  Are your eye muscles straining, even pulling as you stare at your screen?

Are your eyes strained at the computer?  Do you find yourself physically trying to open you eyes as much as possible because they are just too tired to hold themselves open enough to see and read what’s on the screen? You are not alone, thousands, if not millions share your symptoms. Many either must, or choose to sit in front of the computers for hours and hours at a time.

Imagine that out of 4 people there are 3 who will sit in front of some type of screen for hours at a time. There are computers, iPhones, video games and any other new technology that gets you sitting and staring and shoulders and neck all uptight…

You can call it Near Point Stress; Near Sight Stress ; Computer Vision Syndrome.  It all means the same: sitting for hours staring at a near object with a very decreased blinking rate.  Your eyes are focused on one small area for long periods of time to the point where you may even feel the pain of the strain of your eye muscles.  Or, if you are working extra hard and long, the strain may go as far as making you nauseous. Have you been there?

Well, you can prevent this. You have to learn to manage your eye care for the sake of your sight.

Three ways:

- Palming by gently rubbing your hands together and then cupping your eyes with them.  Let your eyes relax!

- Every 10 minutes, try to look 10 feet away for 10 seconds.  It’s the 10-10-10 rule! Try and look at something appealing, like trees in the distance, or whatever looks nice.  If there is no nice scene, then pick something 10 feet away.

- Blink, remember to blink!

You have to give your eyes a break from staring, focusing for long periods of time and slow  blinking!  Pay attention to what your eyes, your body is telling you!
