Exam Time Stress (Thank God I Don’t Have Any)

Posted May 02 2011 12:48pm

Good afternoon everyone!

Currently, I’m on a plane enroute to Alabama. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t scared and nervous about what awaits me there, but I know in my mind that it’s the right thing to do. I have a week and a half before I leave for Fitbloggin’, so my goal is to help as many people during that time as I possibly can. My boss also needs trained staff to work at the UA Rec Center , so I’m more than willing to help him out.

I’m technically employed by UA Aquatics , but I guess they need people to staff the Rec Center while the Aquatics Center is being repaired. Well, I guess it’ll be a new experience. We are all trained the same way, so it should be just another day on the job.

When people need help, you do it whether you want to or not.

Even though I don’t have exams , I’ve had this post in my mind for quite awhile.

Hopefully it will help those that DO have exams.

Right Heather ?

I’m just kidding ;) Good luck this week! If you need someone to make you feel smart, I’m your man. I can send you some texts with spelling errors, although that’s an everyday occurrence.

1. Avoid stressful situations

If you have a certain friend or situation that stresses you out, try to avoid it.

2. Eat healthy and EXERCISE

When I eat well and exercise, my body just feels better. When my body feels good, it’s easier to stay focused on my studies and exams. For example, when I have too much sugar, I tend to crash, which leads me to lose focus.

Try to stick with a diet and exercise routine that you are familiar with and you no will have a positive impact on your body.

3. It’s OK to say no

If a friend wants to go to Starbucks, but you know you will end up talking to whole time, it’s OK to say no. If there are other opportunities to do something, reschedule.

4. Take Breaks

For every hour of studying, I like to take a 15 minute break. I either read blogs, fix a snack, or just lay down. After a few hours of this, I take another break to catch up on my favorite show or eat a meal (or blog ;) )

5. You have already put in the hard work

If you kept up with your studying and schoolwork throughout the semester, studying should be more like a review. If you are learning an entire semester’s worth of material in a few days, you might have a problem…

6. Your grades don’t define you

It’s not worth getting stressed out over exams. Just relax, do the best you can, and focus. If you have put in the hard work, you will be rewarded.

What are your tips for managing stress during exams?

Isn’t it awesome I don’t have any?

This morning was just a quick 7 miles on the treadmill (Dallas weather is terrible right now) before my flight. It was all I really had time for, but it was also I really wanted to do. After last week , it was time for an easy day ;)

Monday Workout

Running: 7 miles

I have a feeling that me and the treadmill are going to be good friends for a few weeks. I think running back at ground zero is going to be tough, especially since there is a curfew from 8 PM to 6 AM everyday.

It’s a good thing I’m not a night owl.
