Eats, Treats, & Work Outs

Posted Feb 20 2011 10:09am

Good morning guys! Looks like we all really love ways to maximize our work outs when we’re short on time—thanks for your input! Smile

How has your weekend been?

Mine’s been full of a lot of fun, a little relaxing, and a few great work-outs!

Of course, the eats haven’t been too shabby either!

Eats

scottish oats

steamed veggies

The best way to eat steamed veggies? A huge veggie bowl!

  • steamed carrots + broccoli
  • cherry tomatoes
  • black beans
  • avocado
  • hummus + salsa + nutritional yeast

I still eat my veggie bowls nearly every day—they are just too good.

A delicious mix that I threw together for some chip dippage:

I ate this with Food Should Taste Jalapeño chips —hit the spot, for sure!

Treats

I made my first ever batch of vegan super charge me cookies !

Um, why haven’t I made these yet? They are so good!

I followed Dreena’s recipe almost exactly—the only differences? My cookies had sunflower seed butter and dried blueberries!

My original Friday plans (running outside + taking Adam to get ice cream) had to be postponed because my poor baby wasn’t feeling well! Luckily, he felt better yesterday morning, so Friday’s plans became Saturday’s plans.

Adam cashed in his ice cream reward with a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough!

I went with the raspberry lemon sorbet swirl.

Work Outs

Friday’s work out involved a mixture of cardio and strength all while catching up on the Biggest Loser ( multi-tasking, remember ?).

  • Warm up .25 miles at 3.8 speed + 4.0 incline
  • Jog .75 miles at 6.0 speed + 1.5 incline
    • Hop off the treadmill and complete the following moves:
      • 20 shoulder presses on stability ball
      • 20 jumping jacks
      • 3-1 minute planks (right side, front, left side)
  • Jog 1.0 miles at 6.2 speed + 1.5 incline
    • Hop off the treadmill and complete the following moves:
      • 20 prisoner lunges (each leg)
      • 20 seconds high knees
      • 20 push-ups
  • .25 miles at 3.8 speed + 6.0 incline
  • .75 miles at 6.4-6.6 speed + 1.5 incline
    • Hop off the treadmill and complete the following moves:
      • 25 chest presses on stability ball
      • 30 seconds bicycles
      • 20 plank jacks
  • STRETCH!

Yesterday I hit the pavement for a nice 2.5 mile run. Followed up with a couple of rounds of random intervals made up by my sister and I:

  • Interval 1 (repeated 3 times):
    • 10 squats
    • 30 seconds of high knees
    • 10 burpees
    • 20 jumping jacks
    • 20 second rest, then repeat.
  • Interval 2 (repeated 3 times):
    • 20 frog jumps <—killer
    • plank jumping jacks
    • walk out plank, push-up, walk back
    • 10 per leg round-house kicks
    • 20 second rest, then repeat.
  • STRETCH!

Sometimes the hodge podge workouts end up being the best—and they’re the most fun! Smile

Enjoy your Sunday!

What’s your favorite move when you’re doing a random interval work out? I love burpees—they’re so challenging, but so good!
