Glycemic Index List What is it?
The glycemic index, invented in 1981 by David Jenkins and Thomas Wolever of the University of Toronto, is a new system for classifying carbohydrate-containing foods, according to how fast they raise blood-glucose levels inside the body.
As a diabetic the glycemic diet has been extremely valuable. I looked at foods for their carb values and also to see if they were simple or complex sugars. However, on the glycemic diet, specifically the glycemic load, my foods have changed, and I now cut back on many of the foods I considered the good foods and have added foods I considered bad foods. Also, please note that diabetes controlled by food and meds is different than the diabetes controlled by insulin. Read the whole article here.
