Don't Bring Me Down

Posted Dec 28 2012 11:19am
I have an issue.  And it's causing anxiety.

My Christmas decorations are still up.  Oh who am I kidding, I'm still listening to Christmas music.  Christmas is a season.  Not just a day and I'm not ready to let go.
When I was a kid decorations stayed up until the epiphany on January 6, but it seems to vogue thing to do now is to put them away before the calendar hits 12/27.  What gives?
Am I the only one with mistletoe hanging around?

Okay, moving on....

Yesterday was a pretty lazy day for me.  I work 2 days this week and start back at my dietetic internship on January 7.  I also have 2 packed weekends of RunDisney races those weeks, so I'm trying to rest and relax now.  I spent the day cleaning the house and putting away gifts. Kyle spent 13 hours training 27 clients at the gym.  Then I made him clean the litter box.  Is that fair?

I managed to get back into my regular workout schedule with a 3.2 mile run with an average pace of 8:45.  I'm hoping to get in 8 miles tomorrow and I have a 1/2 marathon to run next weekend .  Agh!  I guess training through the holidays is harder than anticipated.

After my run I settled down to enjoy some crock pot chili.  Perfect for the cool temps we were enjoying here in Orlando.
I was also home all day, because (and this is going to sound crazy) I wanted to cheer up my cats.  They were sad from being alone while we were in Virginia, so I spent the day with them.  Okay, maybe that's weird.  I dumped large amounts of bird food into the backyard, so the cats would have live entertainment.  Looks like it worked!
After dinner Minnie and I watched "The Words" with Bradley Cooper.  The movie was a little slow, but I enjoyed it.  Sometimes I am down with the slow movie.
This morning I got back into business at the gym.  I have a few errands and studying for my internship to do too.  Tonight is our Christmas with Kyle's family.  See, totally another reason for my decorations to still be up!

When do you take down your holiday decorations?

Love and cat crazies,
Carissa & Kyle
