Okay rain… enough!
It’s rained the last two days straight, with crazy intense winds all night last night.
It wouldn’t have been so bad except I needed to bike to the supermarket yesterday (which didn’t happen) and I wanted to wake up early today to knock out my Body Rock workout and run. Jeremy and I both slept very poorly last night because of the wind—it was SO loud–so we postponed Body Rock until after work.
I’m not a fan of evening workouts… but I also knew I NEEDED the sleep. Plus, my body was sore from running on Sunday and Body Rockin’ yesterday. Once I woke up, I debated whether or not I even wanted to face the rain and run. But I have goals and I want to meet them.
One of my goals for this week is to get in 3 runs. Not a huge deal, but it’s important to me. The thing is, if I didn’t run today, I couldn’t hit my goal because we’re going out of town for the weekend and I don’t run two days in a row.
So, I ran! And boy was I glad I did. Not only was the temperature awesomely spring-like, but…
I hit my 2-mile mark in the Vibrams!
At first, I felt so slow running in these “shoes,” but I think I’ve hit a comfortable barefoot-running stride because my last two runs have been speedy.
Felt so good to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. I’m so glad I didn’t let a few raindrops kill that run.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about whether Body Rock would actually happen tonight, though. But, it did.
We did a modified version of the 30 Day Challenge’s Week 1, Day 2 workout. For some reason they made this workout unnecessarily complicated—you would literally need to stop after each interval and look up the next set of moves because there were so many. So, I simplified things.
Here’s what we did: (each set as many times as possible for 50 seconds)
10 high knees & 10 mountain climbers
clean & press, squat & press, pushup
squat thrusters
wide leg jumps with a pushup
side lunge, punches, tuck jump
switch lunge & press
speed run
It was a good workout and the clean & press, squat & press, pushups were hard.
I saw on Body Rock’s website that a new 30 Day Challenge is starting for February, if any of you are looking to join in.
*P.S. Anyone know how to kindly get rid of a cat? A stray cat that hangs out around our apartment has been in heat for like two weeks. We are losing our minds over its incessant howling and moaning…
