Delicious Food Weekend

Posted Oct 30 2011 10:45am

Wow, talk about a busy week!  First, I traveled to DC for work .  You would think that I would be relaxing, but I’ve been go-go-go this entire weekend.  Luckily, I went to events that provided me with delicious food.  That makes everything better right?! :-D

On Friday night, I attended a work-related gala!  I had never been to a gala before and I wasn’t sure quite what to expect!  I also didn’t know what to wear at all.  I ended up choosing a black, knee length dress with some bold jewelry.

Anyways, back to the good stuff.  After a round of hor d’oeuvres (totally had to Google the spelling just now),  everyone was seated for a three course meal.

Round 1:  Salad

Round 2:  Chicken with Roasted Potatoes and Green Beans

Round 3:  Dessert, Bread Pudding

Oh my goodness was this good!  Super cinnamon-y, warm, and stuffed with cranberries and raisins that you can’t really see too well in the pic.

Yum!  My belly was STUFFED, but very happy after this meal!  It was good fuel for my long run!

Long Run!

On Saturday morning, I woke up to tackle a 12-miler that I planned from my training program .  I ran about 3 miles with Jess and then finished the rest up by myself.  My legs felt pretty good and I wasn’t too tired, but man, those felt like the longest. miles. ever.  I really do need running partners to keep me motivated!!  Now that I finished that long run, I feel pretty confident about my half marathon in two weeks!

I came home incredibly hungry so I showered and fixed up some grub for myself!

Spinach salad with strawberries, tomatoes, and black beans and an egg sandwich with jam.   I’m really loving the egg + jam combo at the moment.  Who thought it could be that good?

Wedding Time!

A friend of Vince’s was got married Saturday night!  We were busy trying to get some work done during the afternoon and lost track of time.  When 4:00 pm rolled around we had an “Oh Crap” moment and rushed to get ready.

Thanks, Sandy!

Both the ceremony and reception were held at Maggiano’s Little Italy .  It was my first time at this restaurant and I was pretty excited after hearing so many rave reviews about it!

I won’t go through all the details, but the ceremony was short and sweet and yes, I did tear up a little!

We were quickly seated for food.  There was so much!

Course 1:  Apple Walnut Salad and Caesar Salad:

Course 2: Breaded Chicken, Chicken Marsala,  4 Cheese Ravioli, and Salmon with Lemon Sauce (drool…)

Course 3:  Tiramisu and Mini Apple Crumble

SO SO GOOD!  We followed dinner with dancing and drinks!  The reception ended around 10:30 so Vince and I made our way over to a Halloween party that a good friend of mine was throwing.  I was lame and didn’t dress up since we came straight from the wedding, but there were so many creative costumes!!

The best costume I ever had was the one I wore last year.  I went as Edna Mode with a group dressed as the Incredibles!!

Haha.

Questions of the Day

Did you guys do anything fun for Halloween this weekend?  What did you dress up as?  What’s your most memorable costume?
