Okay I’ve been a little food crazy lately. Partially because I’ve been celebrating my birthday for three weeks, partially because Restaurant Week was extended, partially because it’s summer and everything is just so much more delicious.
My friends and I decided to go to one more dinner for Restaurant Week at CoCo Sala, a chocolate boutique. Really, I was most interested in dessert but we had a great meal.
Our meal started with frozen coco. Think of a mocha frappachino that is 1000 times better. I could have just sat there and drank this liquid chocolately goodness all night.
Then I had the tomato and burrata salad with basil, balsamic and white truffle oil. I’m loving anything with fresh tomatoes right now, this did not disappoint.
I chose the portobello flatbread and the creole cra bcake as my main “bites.” I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food again. The flatbread had great fresh vegetables, and a combination of fig jam and goat cheese that was perfection.
The crab cake was fried, which isn’t my favorite preparation. It had a chipotle chocolate glaze that was a little overpowering for the dish but was good once I ate around it.
It got really dark in the restaurant when dessert came around so my pictures didn’t really do it justice. But you have to believe me when I say that it was some of the best chocolate I’ve had. The girls and I decided that we’re going to come here on Valentines day just to eat chocolate. I ordered the “Chocolate Onyx” which was a dark chocolate mouse with a layer of crispy chocolate, a layer of creme brulee and a layer of salted caramel, plus a side of chocolate sorbet, plus a 72% cacao bon bon. Seriously, there are no words.
We all had a moment after dessert that I hope was something like being in heaven. CoCo Sala also has an online shop where their individual chocolates can be purchased. It’s a good thing this place is no where near my office or school, otherwise I think I’d be treating myself to chocolate far too often.
