Dark Chocolate Blueberry Oats

Posted Jul 22 2012 1:05pm

Hi everyone, and Happy Sunday!  How are you today?

Sunday Morning

It is absolutely picture perfect here today, with sunny skies and cooler temperatures.  The air is off, the windows are open, and I can not wait to get outside to soak in the beautiful weather!  First, I HAVE to share a new breakfast recipe with you…Dark Chocolate Blueberry Oats!

Breakfast

Ben and I allowed ourselves to sleep in a bit today, but when Ben got up to go to his double header this morning, I got up to make myself a healthy and decadent tasting morning meal to get my day started right.

I began by boiling 1 cup of Silk  Light Chocolate Milk (Sweetened or unsweetened chocolate almond milk would work great too!) before stirring in a half cup of  Quaker  Old Fashioned Oats. Since I like my oats chewy, I cooked the mixture for about 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring it occasionally.

When the oats were done, I poured them into a bowl and stirred in 1 tablespoon of  Hershey’s  Natural, Unsweetened Special Dark Cocoa (a premium blend of natural and dutch-processed cocoas) and 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed.

I then stirred in about 1 cup of fresh blueberries!

For the final touch, my nutritious and rich bowl of oats were topped with 1/2 tablespoon of  Peanut Butter & Co.  Dark Chocolate Dreams for some protein, healthy fats, and more chocolaty flavor!

This bowl of oatmeal was satisfying and absolutely delicious!

A sliced banana topped with some cinnamon

and a mug of House Blend coffee with a little skim milk rounded out my meal. :)

The past two weeks I have had 5 day workout weeks with 2 rest days, but with the weather so amazing  today, I’m off for a workout to make this week a 6 day workout week!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone! :)

Question: How many rest days do you usually take per week?
