Last night, my dad picked me up to go on a Daddy daughter bike ride.
He got a bike for his birthday, so he has been riding more. I don’t have my own bike yet, so I used my brother’s mountain bike. My dad has a hybrid bike, and the difference between the two bikes is like night and day.
My dad kicked my butt riding for the first few miles, and then we switched bikes for a couple of miles, and I couldn’t believe the difference! I don’t really know a whole lot about bikes. In fact, I think the last time that I rode a bike outside was during the Muddy Buddy two years ago. But I do know that the hybrid bike is sooo much easier than the mountain bike.
Riding the hybrid bike was like riding through butter, so smooth and nice. I now understand that mountain bikes are more for off-road riding, like the Muddy Buddy, and hybrid bikes are more for road riding. I think when I go get my bike, I’ll get a hybrid.
We rode five miles, and by the time we were done, my quads were killing me. Thanks, mountain bike.
This morning I had a Van’s English muffin (love these!) with egg whites and provolone cheese. I skipped the raspberry spread because I wasn’t a huge fan of it.
Lately, I’ve been using the Sargento Ultra Thin cheese slices. Only 40 calories in one slice!
BodyPump was hard this morning! My legs were still sore from last night’s bike ride, and the lunges were killer as usual. After the gym, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for lunch.
Then I made a spinach and strawberry salad. This is by far the best salad that I have ever made.
In my salad was:
two cups of spinach
3/4 cup of strawberries
1/4 cup of blueberries
2 tsp. of roasted pecan pieces
1 tbsp. Annie’s lite poppy-seed dressing
The pecans are what made this salad so delicious. They add just the perfect amount of sweetness. This salad with also be great topped with grilled chicken.
On the side, I had a Fage plain Greek yogurt. I wasn’t too excited about trying the plain Greek yogurt. I had a feeling that it was going to taste bitter and like sour cream. But after trying it, I realized the plain taste wasn’t as bad as I thought. Still, I don’t really enjoy it plain, so I added a packet of Truvia and some strawberries.
The reason I wanted to try this yogurt is because it’s only 100 calories and 18 grams of protein. That’s a lot of protein in one little cup! More protein than the fruit Greek yogurt.
On the way to pick up my niece this afternoon, Jaden and I stopped at 7-Eleven to get our free slurpees.
I love slurpees. They are my favorite, but I haven’t had one since I started the weight-loss challenge. Lucky for me, 7-Eleven just came out with a new sugar-free mango slurpee with only 33 calories per 8 ounces, which is why they are giving out free slurpees today.
I also had this peanut butter strawberry Kind bar.
My dad got me some Kind bars for my birthday, and I was dying to try this flavor. It was really good.
Happy Birthday to my step-brother, Jake! He turned 17 today!
Uncle Jake with his niece and nephews:
Question of the day:
Do you own a bike? What kind?
Any fun plans for today? I have yoga on the schedule!
