I am proud to tell you that I can knit. Does that ability transfer into being able to knit anything beyond a straight square or scarf? Well no. But I can knit!
You might be wondering why I would share such information with you but it does have a reason and some heart connection too. I recently became aware of the Guardian Angel Knitting Program which is benefitting the children’s charity Variety both in Australia and New Zealand. I thought it was a gorgeous idea and as we are all shivering through a cold winter here in the southern hemisphere I wanted to share it with you.
This special initiative encourages you to knit warm clothes, blankets, scarves and other garments, which are then donated to children in need through Variety. Knitted contributions will be given to children and babies in shelters or who are disadvantaged and have special needs, children in Aboriginal communities and children affected by the devastating earthquake in Christchurch earlier this year. What a gorgeous cause and you can even get a free knitting book from Guardian to inspire you.
