Consistency Is The Key

Posted Jul 14 2010 9:49am

I’ve been trolling some blogs lately and I find many people are running in to the same problem. Most people complain of eating healthy and exercising but not losing weight or seeing any changes in their bodies. There are many possible reasons why you may not be seeing results but here’s one thing most people commonly over look: consistency!

You must exercise consistently to get the results you want!  Even the best programs are ineffectual if they are not followed on a consistent basis. And if you’re training for a big event like a marathon consistency well help you get there!

Consistent Spaced Meals – One of the most important things that you can do with your health in general is to keep a nice even keel with respect to your blood sugar. When you eat a donut and coffee for breakfast and then nothing until lunch then you will get a big blood sugar spike and then a drop soon after and be just dragging your way until lunch. If you eat consistently small but evenly spaced meals every two to three hours during the day you won’t feel hungry and chances are you won’t get those sugary cravings.

Consistent Sized Meals- Make sure to eat 200-400 calorie sized meals. having even sized meals will mean you’re not bloated after one meal and you have the energy to make it through your day. This point goes hand in had with consistent spaced meals.

Consistent Exercise- Try to stick to a schedule. If you exercise five days a week and take two days off try and stick to the same days each week. That being said if you switch it up once in awhile because of sickness or unplanned events don’t fret! As well, the key is not hours and hours of moderate cardio. Try cardio exercises with HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) which raises your heat rate.

Remember that consistency is key to changing your lifestyle for good. Don’t focus on “dieting” and restricting yourself all the time. Living healthy is a marathon, not a short sprint down the road!
