Since I’ve started this blog, I have been introduced to so many other amazing blogs in the ‘healthy living’ community. Once thing I constantly admire about these other blogs I read is how active the bloggers are. Fitness is a huge aspect of many of their lives. Becoming part of the FitFluential family helped me find even more amazing and inspiring bloggers who are regular people with regular jobs, but let me tell you: these people are athletes!! When I think about my level of fitness, it pales in comparison to these other people!
So I feel as though I must confess: I am not a fitness fanatic!
I have never run a marathon or half marathon
I have never done CrossFit
I rarely get in 6 days a week of working out- it’s usually 5 days/week.
I can’t squat a million pounds, or do tons of pull-ups (or even 1 pull-up )
And you know what? I am okay with that. For me, fitness is extremely important in my life but I would be lying if I said it came first, second, or even third in my daily list of to-dos. Sleeping, studying, spending time with Kyle or family, and other commitments take away from my workout routine a lot.
It’s easy for me to get down on myself and compare myself to these other people who are out training for marathons, running Warrior Dashes and Tough Mudders, etc. But instead of feeling worthless, I am choosing to find motivation from these people! Maybe one day I can do those kinds of activities too. But right now, I am okay with my level of fitness.
In the past 2 years I have never gone more than a week without at least some kind of workout. I’ve run my first 5K . I’ve added tons of strength training to my routine. I’ve made running a part of my life even though I don’t run long distances. And, I know I’m getting the health benefits of exercise.
So there was my confession. I am just a normal medical student trying to fit in a tiny workout whenever I can. But I am constantly inspired by the athletes in the blogging community. Here’s hoping my level of fitness only increases in the next few years.
As for yesterday, I actually did workout! I made it to the gym early to do this arms workout from last week. I finished it up with an abs routine from Blogilates.
