Please Note  – the below content might gross you out! Only read if you are comfortable reading about colonics, bowel movements and all that fun stuff.

About two years ago I went to the hospital because I had not made a bowl movement in over 3 weeks. I was in excoriating pain and my stomach looked like I was a few months pregnant. I had never gone to the bathroom regularly but the problem seemed to be getting worse. After my visit to the ER I was sent to a gastric specialist. The doctor performed test after test followed by different suggestion that might help me manage the pain. At one point I was chugging mineral oil every morning but nothing seemed to help. He finally diagnosed me with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and told me I would never go to the bathroom regularly.

So for the past two years I have been dealing with abdominal pain and cramping almost everyday.

An amazing blogger named Dori who writes Dori’s Shiny Blog has a similar issue and has had some luck relieving pain with weekly colonics. I had met Dori a few times so I felt comfortable enough to e-mail her and ask her where she goes. She suggested I go see Cassie at Colon Therapy NYC . I made an appointment with Cassie last night after work and had my first ever colonic. A colonic is an “An act or instance of colonic irrigation, performed for its supposed therapeutic benefits.”

When I met Cassie she was sweat and had a beautiful glow about her. She told me to get undressed from the waste down and to lay on the table. I was so nervous I started sweating but within the first five minutes I knew I made the right decision. As I laid there for the next forty minutes I would feel the water go in and a bowel movement come out of the tube. I would feel occasional cramping when a larger movement would come out but felt instantly better as soon as it passed. Cassie mentioned I was really back up! lol

Cassie and I chatted about my diet  during the procedure and she suggested I cut out egg whites since they are likely to “back me up” more  and replace them with oats. She also suggested I eat more fruits and vegetables since they are easier to digest.

Upon finishing my colonic I immediately bought a package of three and made an appointment for next week.

Will Cassie be the solution to my problem? Who knows! All I know is I feel so much better today thanks to Cassie and my colonic!

Tonight I am back at CrossFit!! yay!!

Have you ever had a colonic? If so, did you love it or hate it?
