It’s been a pretty busy twenty four hours here in San Diego.
My travel buddy and I arrived yesterday evening in one piece.
Since it had been a pretty long day for Alan, my sister and I just decided to grab takeout and camp out at her apartment for the evening.
Salmon salad, spicy noodles and tofu soup from Taste of Thai.
We kicked back and watched The Five Year Engagement while a certain someone snoozed on the floor
She was so tired from a long day of traveling! In true Alan fashion, she still managed to wake up at the crack of dawn this morning though. After a few trips downstairs to take her to go potty I tried to fall back asleep but it was pretty much useless so I caught up on a little Saturday morning blog reading in bed on my iPhone – thank goodness for modern technology.
A little while later it was breakfast time,
then off to Balboa dog park.
(That coffee in my hand = very necessary)
Alan had a great time hanging out at the park and Nance and I had fun watching all of dogs run around checking one another out. I always love seeing the variety of dogs that come out of the woodwork.
We also spotted a Derek Hough lookalike
(Any other DWTS fans out there agree?)
After I retired from my paparrazi gig (haha, stalker alert ), we walked around Balboa Park for a little while. I was excited to see that all the Christmas decorations were up and in full force.
I always love seeing how other places decorate for the holiday season – mind you, this is coming from someone who grew up calling a string of lights on a cactus Christmas.
Once Alan was good and tired, Nance and I dropped her back off at the apartment and headed to La Jolla.
First stop was the Burger Lounge where we both got veggie quinoa burgers which were delicious.
We walked around La Jolla for awhile, checked out a couple shops then headed over to Windansea Beach to snap a few pics just as the sun went down.
There was a family who had a Christmas tree pitched in the sand and were taking their holiday photos on the beach. Seeing scenes like that makes my heart happy.
We”re off to get showered up and head to dinner – thinking sushi tonight.
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Question: What’s the most fun or unique place you’ve ever traveled to around the holiday season? I would have to say Maui. My sister and I traveled there in December a few years ago for a veterinary conference I was attending. The hotel we stayed at was all decorated for Christmas – they even had pointsettias lining the koi ponds – it was gorgeous!
