Hi gang! How's your day going? I've had an interesting day to say the least! Last night after a really late business dinner, Scott called me at 11pm to tell me he had a flat tire. Earlier in the day one of the tires on our stroller that we've had for three years without incident went flat. And this morning, I needed to get out of the house early, and went to my car, and one tire was almost empty. So, 3 flat tires in 24 hours....is that weird or what?!
After getting some air in my tire, I went and got my hair color touched up today. There's nothing like a fun-filled morning of sitting around a hot, loud salon and cooling my heels with foils on my head. Back in the day, I used to enjoy salon visits. Now I just think of them as obligatory maintenance similar to shaving my legs. There is no great joy in it, but the results are worth it.
Here was my last Salon Visit . Not much changed since my that trip to the salon , but Here's a Couple Pics from Today with my new, touched up, blond-n-sassy locks...haha!
And I don't stay for blowouts, ever, in a salon. Air dry it, baby. And of course, no makeup. Can you tell I'm working on 4 hours of sleep?
Skylar was up more last night than she was down last night. Sigh.
Thanks Everyone for the Congratulations and Well Wishes you extended to in the comments yesterday based on my announcement to obtain my Certified Personal Trainer credential!I don't say "become a Personal Trainer" because I am already a lot of things: mother, wife, yoga teacher, lactation educator, real estate license holder, etc. and I am not really "becoming" anything new. Rather, I am simply adding to my own personal knowledge base, but also I don't know if I will become employed as a trainer, or not. And, as I said yesterday, it's just my nature to always have something new to learn and work on . For me, Goals and Things on my To-Do List are just a way of life!
It was great hearing your take on goals and whether you like to always have something you're working on or whether you like to take things a day at a time and be more mellow and laidback about it all. Thanks for chiming in on that one!

I chose the words: Om Shanti for my necklaceLoosely translated: Om is the sacred sound of the universe, that which created all. Shanti is peace. It is basically a prayer or wishes for peace.
It's perfect timing and the perfect reward for my decade's long efforts in just recently obtaining my 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Credential that I excitedly posted about last week.

Averie's Chocolate Coconut Oil Protein Popcorn
Ingredients & Directions:
2 Tbsp Popcorn Kernels
1 Brown Paper Bag
Place kernels in the brown paper bag and cook for 90 Seconds in the Microwave
Then Spray the popped corn down with Cooking Spray, or if you have it, Coconut Oil Spray is great, too!

Don't be shy on spraying it because otherwise your toppings won't adhere well.
Or, melt Coconut Oil over the Warm Popcorn. Don't Have or Like Coconut Oil? Then use another oil like flax, hemp, olive, grapeseed, or another that you like. You have to use some sort of oil, or even vegan "butter" (margarine, Earth Balance, etc) or the toppings won't stick. Don't Fear the Healthy Fats!
Then Add/Sprinkle On:
1/2 to 1 scoop of Protein Powder (15-20 grams of protein)
3 Tbsp Nooch (9 grams of protein) = Approximately 25-30 grams of protein right there!
And the 2 tbsp of popcorn has about 5 grams of protein in it.
So you're at 30+ grams protein in this bowl of popcorn!!!
Other Add On's
Maca (1 gram protein per teaspoon of maca). And Check This Post for the Health Benefits of Maca and Maca FAQ's
Stevia, Sugar, or other sweetener to taste or omit

Yoga Today is Kapotasana (King Pigeon Pose) . Please do not try this unless your back is thoroughly warmed up as well as your quads. Yoga is not a competition and so please don't force yourself into a pose. I don't want you to hurt yourself. This is a pose to work towards with patience, compassion, and mindfulness for any limitations your body has. That said, it's a beautiful pose, your heart opens, love and lightness enter, and peacefulness & calm ensue over my being when I am in this asana!
I am sore and a rest day from lifting was needed!

1. Do You Take Risks with Your Hair? Women know that changing your hair can be a very big thing, and how you believe your hair looks, i.e. the proverbial "bad hair day", can really mess with your mood and even your self-esteem if you don't feel it looks good. So how much risk do you take with your hair? Are you more likely to color it or cut it if you're looking for a change? Have you ever made a fairly drastic hair choice and hated it? What did you change? And other than waiting for it to grow or the color to fade or having it professionally fixed, what did you do about the hair boo-boo?
As I mentioned, I have had hair every color under the rainbow and when I was younger and in high school I had some short hair cuts (not a good look at me, and I have the pictures to prove it...ha!) but I also went wayyyy too blond in my early 20s and had really bad breakage, i.e. a chemical haircut and spent a good year+ waiting for it to grow out and even out. Again, another less than stellar look!

2. Do you feel like insurance is a total rip off?
Between my health care insurance premiums and my car insurance, not to mention home owner's insurance, valuable personal property riders on top of the home owner's policy, life insurance, it seems I am insuring a whole lot of things...yet I don't ever seem to "use it". The cars and tires, we have to pay for those out of pocket. There is also a windshield we need to replace and since we don't have glass coverage, that's another out of pocket expense. We won't hit our deductible and even if it's close or right at the deductible amount, we don't want to make a claim on the insurance which would only raise premiums so we pay out of pocket when it makes good common sense to do so.
The health care insurance premiums are ridiculously expensive because we're self-employed. And of course health care in America is it's own "interesting" topic to say the least. But to to wrap this insurance question up we'll move on....Ironically, I don't go to the doctor because I am a healthy (raw vegan!) young woman and Skylar is healthy as a horse, but if we didn't have insurance and something horrific happened, we could be bankrupt. And if I do seek medical care, I'd prefer to see a naturopath or alternative medical practitioner, and they don't take insurance anyway so I often feel like I am paying all this money with no tangible benefit.
What percent of your take home income goes to pay for various insurance? I don't even want to tell you how high of a percentage ours is. Suffice to say, it's it's own mortgage payment if we tally it all up.
