China or Not to China…

Posted Oct 27 2011 9:02am

…that is the question!

One of the wedding  planning duties I’ve been putting off is registering. The main reason? Whether or not to register for china. I simply cannot decide. My family and friends have been offering great advice, but I’m still torn. I figured I’d turn to my blog to develop a pro and con list and also to elicit opinions from Y-O-U!

If I do register for china, I already have a pattern picked out. It is the Kate Spade Belle Boulevard Collection sold at Macy’s. The pattern, to me, is classy and timeless. Sleek and simple with a lovely silver bow.

Let’s develop a list, shall we?

Pros:

  • Dinner parties . I certainly love them and it would be a great time to use the china.
  • Appropriate serve-wear for holidays.
  • Great excuse to get a curio/china cabinet. (Can you tell I’m really digging here?).
  • It is quite lovely.
  • It is a lifelong thing that will last forever and not need to be replaced.

Cons:

  • My major fear is that I won’t use it. At least not enough.
  • China is expensive.
  • If people choose a china item off of my registry, it would be taking the place of a common item (i.e. a blender) that I actually would use on a regular basis.
  • I just feel like in this day and age china is not common anymore.

So I leave you with these questions:

If you are married, did you register for china? If so, do you use it?

If you are not married, do you think you would register for china in the future?

Based on my pros and cons list, what decision do you think is best?
