Between work, teaching, practicing yoga, working out, cooking meals, studying anatomy and yoga philosophy, and blogging (which is my respite and delight!) by the end of the day, I am rather exhausted. Finding balance is a daily pursuit, and while there is much to be said for dedication and commitment, there is also unspeakable joy in taking a few moments to relax and just be.
So, when Anthony suggested we have a spontaneous “date night” tonight, I more than happily obliged.
Anthony and I moved in together only a few months after we started dating (long story, but it worked out amazingly well, thank goodness) we made and have continued to make it a priority to keep our dating life very much awake and alive. So, we go on mini-dates often throughout the week. Whether it’s a walk in central park or a glass of wine at our local wine bar, we always have a great time talking about our day, our fantasies about our future dog, or our upcoming vacation to Australia in December!
Tonight, we went to our local hummus bar for a yummy and healthy-ish treat.
Sido is a fabulous little Mediterranean restaurant in our neighborhood that makes amazing grilled chicken salads, gyros, and especially hummus. Their hummus and baba ganoush is incredibly luscious and rich, and is an excellent special treat on a night when you need a pick-me-up.
We ordered a hummus and baba combination plate that came with two pita bread (my love brought me rice cakes from home – am I lucky or what?), a stuffed grape leaf and a club soda. The total came out to $8.33 – not bad for a date, right?
Such a yummy treat, and while not the lowest in fat, it was certainly protein filled and highly satisfying. Great for a once in a while outing!
Great intro to an evening of butternut squash soup, anatomy studies, and The Witches playing in the background.
